BTW, look closely at the pictures on the wall.

Quote from: Hydra009 on May 07, 2025, 11:22:01 AMThe moral of the story is to not chase trends.  Also, you don't own any streaming service songs and it's just a matter of time before some people learn about that the hard way.

Personally, I only bought a dozen or so CDs before the switch to digital, so the economic crisis was minimal.  Winamp/VLC ftw.

Edit - why not "burn" from CD to a digital format to not need to stream at all?

I don't do much streaming. Mostly just a free Pandora account while I'm in the car. Not at all at home.

MusicBee > Winamp or VLC for music. Vastly better library management plus WASAPI/ASIO support for bit perfect playback. You need an external DAC to take full advantage of it though.

I've been buying CD's since the 80's. Back in the early 00's I ripped 700 plus of them to MP3. Then isn the mid 00's I ripped them again to FLAC. These days I about 500 plus GB of music that lives on the mini PC I use for playback, my NAS, and a remote copy here at the office on a TrueNAS built on an old Dell 510 server.

But CD rips have their limitations. 44.1 kHZ x 16 bits per channel. A lot of newer and some older music is available in 192 kHZ x 24 bit or even 384 kHZ x 32 bit digital formats. This can be streamed or purchased and downloaded from several providers.

Lately I have been using ffmpeg to extract the audio files from the mts files on blu ray disks. I only have 3 of those. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars, Dark Side of the Moon, and I just got the new Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii disk last week. All three of these have higher bit rate audio tracks in both stereo and multi channel tracks.

The definitive tripping song as far as I'm concerned.

And yea, the band members are swapping locations as deep into the picture as I've ever been able to see.

Oh yeah?

Rick Wakeman (YES keyboardist), "Journey to the Center of the Earth". ONE SIDE of an LP.

I heard it first when I was stationed in Sicily with the USN. I literally lived on the side of a volcano, Mt. Etna, currently ELEVEN THOUSAND FEET HIGH. The characters in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne escape from the subterranean world via Etna.

Season 1 was good. Season 2 episode 2 was traumatic to the point that the wife thinks one of the actresses should be blackballed for life for playing the character.

You're talking to a guy who believed that one of his favorite songs had a clever distortion/audio scuffing at the end that recontextualizes the whole song.  Turns out the uploader scuffed it so it wouldn't get automatically flagged and removed.  The artist's version is scuff-free.  To me, finding out the truth was like finding out that diamonds aren't actually rare or the Pyramids of Giza are within walking distance from a Pizza Hut.

Drama. Technically a Buggles album, too.

You should still check out MusicBee for library management even if you don't care about bit perfect playback.
