Yeah, messing with the surrender/POW process by either side is stupid.  When the SS executed US POWs in Malmedy, that just made US troops fight harder, knowing that surrendering results in execution.

The reality is that there are like 8 guys from five different angles.  And the person surrendering is usually made to lie down on their belly while they're searched and then told to walk forward with at least two guys walking behind them.  Any funny business at all, and I mean the slightest thing, and it's chunky salsa time.  There have been false surrenders and they typically don't go well for the person doing it.  I would not recommend.  It's not like the movies where the person drops their pistol and then lunges forward to catch their pistol mid-fall and shoots three guys in a tenth of a second.  That's not what happens.  Sorry, I've seen way too many real videos of this stuff in the past few years.
