Basically its referring to people who think they know the secrets of the universe. I am a Christian, but you will not find a quote were I claim to be enlightened, you will find quotes were I am quick to admit my mistake. I will never say another religion is false because I do not know that, I have found several religions I can admire and respect. Mainly eastern philosophies and Judaism.

My advice to you (as a fellow believer) is to just listen, not say anything, just listen. I started doing that a year ago and it has helped me, but I have a question for you.

I know what the bible says and IF she was a true Jew which means she did not believe in God she would go to hell. God judges us by are actions but sin is all the same to him. When God judges the way he does a little fib is the same as a murder. So lets mark that up we know everyone sins that means she sinned. Also she does not believe in Jesus. By not believe in Jesus alone she would go to hell but then she is also a sinner like us all. That is how i can say by what we know about her that is where she would go. I am not saying if we both go to heaven we might find her but i am saying by what we know about her hell is where the verdict would land.

As an atheist, I can honestly say that I would much rather the company of Contemporary Protestant to that of Walker_Lee, for Contemporary Protestant is willing to reflect on new information and admit when they are wrong. Walker_Lee lacks this character and is a picture perfect example of a hypocrite. He sets standards for himself and not only fails to meet them, but tries to pretend that he has met them in an effort to keep face. Contemporary Protestant has been shown to be empathetic with a firm belief that their God of choice is moral. So much so that when a moral conflict arises, they are willing to accept that the supposed facts about God could be wrong or that information is lacking. Walker_Lee is quick to accept a sociopath for a God because his morality extends no further than blind obedience.

My problem with Walker_Lee is not so much his religion of choice, but his character - he has none. He has not demonstrated himself to be a person of redeeming qualities in any way. It's my firm belief that with or without religion, he would still be an awful person looking for something to hide behind to cover his lack of humanity.

I'm still disgusted by how summarily he dismisses a girl who suffered horribly at the hands of the Nazi's as being justifiably worthy of hell. Holy shit that's serial killer level of loss of empathy. Seriously, that lack of morality makes me wonder where Walker_Lee is currently hiding the bodies right now.

No, no it's really not. Even if it was just you that believed like that, it would be terrible. But the problem is we have a huge percentage of society running around believing the exact same shit, that their fellow man deserves eternal (which I don't believe you fully grasp the concept of) torture because... god is a jealous bitch.

Society should not hate, or disregard, his fellow man so easily. First off: If you follow a religious text and believe in a messiah, a God and a certain way of living to appease that God and actually practie it, you are practicing a religion.

But, more, importantly...

Your God's standards are unfair, immoral and sociopathic. They lack any sense of 'right' and 'wrong' and depend on guilt-trip, human sacrifice and total abandonement of all rational and emotional faculties. I wouldn't call you a hypocrite. I would call you a coward revering a non-existant serial killer and sadist who in his cowardice abandons his fellow man and humanity itself to be spared. If your God were existant the moral thing would be to say something akin to: "Fuck you Yahweh, if you're going to send people to hell for not believing in you, I want you to send me too. I'd rather suffer with my kind than share heaven with you."
