The people have spoken!

But they have no idea what they were talking about...

Why stop at besieging everyone inside the settlement when you can also besiege everyone outside the settlement?

It's not so much that as it was that Snoke was built up as this mysterious villain so of course the audience expects to learn more.  But instead of delivering on that, the writer literally just crumpled the paper as he was writing Snoke and had him unceremoniously killed off instead.  Same with Phasma.  LAZY.

The Emperor is actually the exact opposite of that, were we learn a great deal about what he wants and how he operates before his death scene.

A few minutes after sending my post, a thought occurred to me. I wonder if that might have been meant as a hint to Snoke's true identity. Both he and Sidious died in similar ways, too focused on seeing the hero die to notice their apprentice stab them in the back. They did, apparently, foreshadow Rey's connection to Palpatine with her theme and her fighting style. At first glance, it seems like Disney had no plan whatsoever, but they did at least seem to have a few things planned out. If only they executed those ideas better, so they didn't seem to come out of nowhere.

For the Sequels, they didn't have pretty much anything planned out in advance and it shows.  So no foreshadowing.  What we got was the quickest and easiest way to get him out of the picture.  If it has vague similarities to Palpatine, it's purely coincidental.

"creative control" wasn't controlled.

I dunno about that. In the prequels, they used Palpatine's theme as festival music, as a bit of vague foreshadowing. They appeared to do the same with Rey. There's actually a video on YouTube of a guy predicting the "Rey is related to Palpatine" reveal before the second movie came out. Nobody took it seriously until...you know. He turned out to be right. lol

Of course, Rey having an evil father, that is why the last 3 movies were shit ;-)  The Dark Side didn't go to director school.

Don't do that.

The second video also predicts the origin behind Han Solo's name. He says it as a joke, but it actually happened.
