I wouldn't write a word unless I had the entire novel figured in my head and even better a sketch/outline.

I just barrel through, non-stop, 43 hours my record. Some backing up and redirecting things, it doesn't spring from the forehead of Zeus complete. That's about one chapter for me. Maybe two short stories.

It helps me that I've kept notes on story ideas since the late '70s. Digitized all the pages and ran them through an OCR program in the '80s.

My some of my favorite characters, not ranked.

"THUDD of the BLUD" (Conan with ADHD and a speech impediment.)
"Warrr, the War Cat" (Need to be fed humans to reach peak fury. Luckily nobody likes his human companions so win or lose there's always something to eat.)
"See Creature, the Sea Creature." (############)

And so on.

Awww, but I like the program that tries to assert its realness over reality.  That part where you wake up in a mental institution and everyone there tells you that you're on Earth in 1994 and the Dominion War isn't a thing is a classic!  All the greats went through something like this.  Sisko, Picard, Riker, Weir, Buffy...
