I actually saw one theory I was okay with, that once her role as Thor is done, if the character is popular will stick around as her own hero. This is a good way to introduce a new female hero in such a way that people will actually pay attention. If thats what it takes to get a new hero some attention until they can build some likability on their own I am actually kinda okay with it.

I expect the porn industry or the Japanese to do this but not marvel. WTF! Feminism poisons everything!

It's not feminism. It's tokenism.

Kind of like when DC made Mr Terrific black.

Remember Mr Terrific?

Exactly.

Thor may be a bit more high profile, but that just means this is temporary. You bitches got to have Thor for a bit, so stop your whining.

There has to be a reason why this sudden breakdown of altering the most popular marvel characters to become 'PC friendly' versions of themselves is happening.

I know disney took marvel into his claws lately, but I dunno if its because of that, or some other crackhead now in charge.

At least DC remains safe, for now.

I'd be okay with her if they introduced her as a distinct character (not Lady Thor, but her actual persona) had her pal around with Thor for a while, and then something happens to Thor to knock him out of commission and she takes over the Thor comic for a while and then gets a spinoff comic.

Ever see One More Day?  Or any of the Ultimate comics?  Crackheads galore.  And it's been that way for quite some time now.

This is more or less how I think it's suppose to be going down, I just wish like you said they had introduced her (at least, more than it seems like they have... but perhaps they will give her more story before she just jumps into the role of Thor) before she jumps in.

It's more the thought of some stranger taking Thor's role that annoys me than anything else.

Yeah.  Me too.  You know that character you love?  Well, too bad, he's gone.  Here's your new Thor, she's a lady now!  Ta-Da!

But that's the thing that pisses me off the most, the arrogance of the writer, saying to us 'this is not girl thor, this is not some alternate take on thor or a joke, this IS thor' as in telling us, the loyal fans to forget the decades of character development like it's something they can cast off without regret.

And now it looks like they are going to do the same with wolverine, never mind his vast and complex story through the years, you know forget that shit, here's a new wolverine that IS wolverine because they tell us it is.

Fuck these guys, fuck their selling out to Disney, and fuck their 'pc friendly' character redesigns.

Hey, the new Mr. Terrific is one of my favorite superheroes! He got screwed over by the writers and artists when they took him solo (hey guys, this character is starting to get popular, let's change everything about him).

Yeah, she can take over the comic for awhile without taking over the character's name for awhile.

marvels lucky, in that they took norse mythology into its own and made it into its own following without upsetting any religious folks over it, seen as how Norse belief stopped being respected hundreds of years ago. If there were still people who saw the norse gods with the same faith based dogma that christianity does, they'd be in so much trouble over this now.
Imagine marvel trying to use Jesus or Mohammad as token characters, the cities bombings would increase.

National Lampoon's Son-o-God series:

No Muhammad though, at least not in superhero comics.
