I expect the porn industry or the Japanese to do this but not marvel. WTF! Feminism poisons everything!

While we're doing swaps.....

Lets make Catwoman a man, Zeus a girl, Underdog a cat, and Mighty Mouse a turkey.

Already been done.

Former burgler who committed his crimes in a catsuit.  Rule 63 catwoman or very close to it.

The thing is, it's as if they believe they created Thor, as if he didn't really exist (mythologically/fictional) before; and as if there was sexism in concern to Norse gods vs. Norse goddesses when they were pretty much equal (I believe there's actually more female gods than male gods in Norse mythology).

They're just lazy. Plenty of Norse goddesses to choose from.

Pretty much.  It's common in comics to have alternates of a character:  Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, etc.  But this is pretty ridiculous.  It's especially bad because Marvel's Thor is heavily based on the Thor of Norse mythology, who is most definitely male.

Norse mythology definitely has some great women (Freya the first to come to mind, but the Valkyrie in general)... just as many of the post-judaism pagan religions did.

I never was a fan of, "This guy who was white... ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE IS BLACK!" or those little changes like that... it's a new character when you completely change who they are, so introduce them as a new character.

You know, Othello and Heathcliff, and Jesus -- they were all white dudes.

I shit you not. The main heirone in Fate Night Zero is the female version of King Arthur. In Lord of the G string The hobbits and aragorn are all female versions. Rule 63 fuck you so hard.

Thor is the god of thunder, a specific person, not a title to be passed around, even in the comic books. When a mortal has acted as Thor in the comics in the past, it was a charade. If another god or goddess passes themselves off as Thor, it would still be a charade because they're not 'really' Thor. The mythical Thor had a daughter, Thrud, who could do the job just as well without the name recognition. I suppose it could be anglicized more to make it 'sound better'.

They couldn't do a Thrud, because...

I mean, technically they could but even I remember this comic.

Apparently, Thor is still a guy, he just can't wield his hammer. A woman is stepping in for his role in some weird plot twist. I'm actually ok with it if that's the case.

Okay, so it's not a new Thor that's going to be a female, it's just a female doing his job. That's more acceptable.

Art work (and a random woman) for the new Thor... looks pretty fucking bad ass.

Still, they shoulda just used a Valkyrie.

QuoteMarvel's press release quotes writer Jason Aaron as saying: "This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is Thor. This is the Thor of the Marvel Universe. But it's unlike any Thor we've ever seen before." The press release also says that whoever is worthy to hold the hammer gets to have the name Thor, so this really is Thor.
