Whoever wins this years election, it will represent a historic event. If Harris wins, the Democrats will be the first party to elect a woman. If Trump wins, the Republicans will be the first party to elect a felon.

She was found guilty of seven of ten charges of engaging in a security breach to advance a false conspiracy theory of election fraud.  Take a wild guess what political party (and cult of personality) she's affiliated with.

She was notably defiant, unreasonable, and unremorseful throughout the entirety of case - from arrest to conviction to sentencing.  Her arrest was surprisingly gentle considering her belligerent attitude.  Most Americans are not nearly as fortunate.

The scary part is she is a U.S. representative. 

As an aside - 20 years ago I was talking to an elected official who told me it "was so cold last night the stars were falling out of the sky."  That's scary too.

I think my favorite bon mot from someone who was at one time an actual high-ranking elected official - a tragic mistake - was the idea that schools perform gender-assignment surgery over the course of a weekend.

In middle school, many of my classes were undertaken in "temporary" trailers outside the actual school building and a couple of the desks had bad legs that would wobble.  If the word didn't end in -ball, it didn't get funding.  But yeah, they totally routinely perform complex surgeries in their spare time, which teachers naturally have a lot of.

I guess they get the pyromaniac chemistry teacher (a mishap involving a magnesium rod, which the fire department didn't like), the bio teacher too timid to say the word evolution (it might have been a legal thing or maybe a religious thing, idk), and the almost impossibly world-weary gym teacher to tie little Timmy down to one of the cafeteria tables...and the craziest part, they do it all pro bono.  Trabajo gratis.  Travail sans d'argent.  Sweat without cheddar.  Sounds legit.
