Quote from: "Nonsensei"In D3 getting the best gear in the game makes you barely able to do the hardest stuff, and only then with great effort and patience.

There was also a much lower ratio of totally worthless items. In D3 literally 99.9% of everything that drops is utter trash. In D3 it was closer to 95%, which meant you could pretty much depend on at least one thing dropping that was at least stash worthy per run.
Ultimately this sounds like a problem that's directly linked to the desire to handle the highest monsterpower-level. This begs the question: what's the entertainmentlevel/replay-value of Diablo3 (Inferno) at a lower monsterlevel?

Quote from: "GrinningYMIR"And I liked Dawn of war a lot, fun game but buggy. I remember one mission in particular in the original campaign where the whirlwinds wouldn't fire, they'd just sit there beeping.
It was a great game, but it has a lot of little bugs that were just a pain.  My biggest gripe was the narrow pathways combined with bad pathfinding would often cause members of a squad to arrive at a location well in advance of the rest of a squad.  This was particularly noticeable with Imperial Guard.  Also, attack-move commands would have your marine squads stopping and firing from max range, so a marine squad with a few rocket launchers would go to town while the rest of the squad would sit idle.  They would also block the way of squads behind them.  So sending a ton of marines at a target would only have a few of them engaging the target while the rest sit idle or struggle to find a path over there.  Not to mention the extreme difficulty tanks have maneuvering around infantry.

And then there's Soulstorm.  /sighs

The game has an amazing modding community, though.

Well, the only reason to keep playing at all after you hit 60 is to level up Paragon and find better gear. And actually paragon levels offer a benefit that essentially increases the chance to find better gear, so its all a focus on getting better gear.

All I can say is for me it eventually got very dull. There are certain areas that are "the best" areas to farm. They offer maximum efficiency for time spent. Going anywhere else aside from these places is wasting time. So you find yourself running the same places over and over and over like fifty times a day hoping that one thing worth millions drops. Of course it hardly ever does.

Its pretty awful. There just isnt much to do in the D3 endgame. You can either try to get materials for hellfire rings or you can farm for legendary drops. Thats it.

This game is so stupid, but I can't help but leave it running :/

Hydra009

I was curious, so I looked at an explanation of the game.

I always hated the long range bug, you'd have a dozen marines stand there while two rocket men just fired off willy nilly.

I also hated how a single artillery round that barely did any damage caused morale to collapse.

"one random Ork shell hits a Space Marine squad, made up of the strongest and most experienced warriors humanity has to offer. The shell impacts nearby not causing any damage."

It's not any weirder than Necron morale breaking, which technically shouldn't even be possible.

Some things just have to be fudged for balancing's sake.  *shrugs*

I just imagine that they're somewhat distracted/inconvenienced - annoyed more than intimidated - and would rather fall back than keep a tactically unwise position.

GrinningYMIR

Yes you're right, still was annoying though. But at least the Space Marines had better morale than imperial Guard, they break instantly and they die with one bullet.

It's a fun game either way, soundtrack was good too. I've often felt that OST's are undervalued.
it's a shame.

The other thing thats odd about that situation is that an artillery attack doesn't do meaningful damage. I'm pretty sure on the tabletop game a tank attack has a good chance of killing multiple targets in the blast radius (depending on what its hitting). In DoW you could blast a marine squad for 20 minutes before they die.

I don't know how many of you guys are fans of emulators, but I recently was playing around with project64k (n64 emulator) and realized it lets you do network play.

I was doing internet Mariokart 64. It's pretty awesome. If anyone else wants  to use it, just make sure you don't do it in full screen mode and keep it windowed. (it crashes the program and gets unsynced from everyone else in full screen mode)

Here is the link I downloaded it from.

It's important to get the experimental version like the one in the link, the Project64K and not the reguar project64 the regular one doesn't offer network play as far as I know.

I love emulators, but I wasn't aware you could network with them.  Usually, my roomie and I just share a keyboard to play some Mame beat 'em ups.  X-Men ftw.

Got a couple more trophies on Dark Souls over the weekend. Some day I'll get that platinum... some day.
