Yeah, the rampaging puberty was obviously trolling for a specific market.

I've been enjoying Stranger Things so far. I would agree that season 1 is the strongest, and I think season 2 is the weakest. That's the one with the goth girl, right? The show completely forgot she existed, since most didn't seem to like her.

If there's a new season that just came out, I haven't seen it yet. Where it left off, I wasn't sure what could be left to reveal. Felt like they left the villain alive just to leave open the possibility of a new season. I hope they don't drag it out too long. You gotta know when to leave on a high note.

What is the deal with this upside down stuff?  I'll show you what's upside down.  *bends over 'till his head is upside down* That's upside down!

Monstrous spiders and bats and dogs crawling out of an eerie red mist isn't an alternate dimension - that's just a normal day at Hibachi Express!

And this poor town is almost destroyed every other week it seems.  It's a shame there's no Superman in that show.  Just give it up and move to someplace normal...like New York! *facetious smile*

*audience goes crazy, gives a standing ovation*

Did I mention "Secret Level"? I hope they do more of those.

Bought the Fringe complete dvd box. Hoping to get the gf into it. Loved that show when it came out.

We watched the first episode (pilot) yesterday, which looking back is a bit slower than i remembered. But she agreed to watch more. Fingers crossed that she'll like it.

I know it is becoming an older show, but it saddens mee that it doesn't seem to have a vivid fanbase. It always reminded me of gravity falls and that fanbase, i think, is still alive and kicking. Of course, that franchise does still occasionally drop new merch and lore.

Reference, additional details, etc. Consider it a footnote if you'd like.

Haven't seen it yet. I do IMDB as first check. If it has promise I consult with Boss Lady and we put it in the queue if we agree.

Just finished Invincible Season 3 and hoooooooly shiiit this is a fantastic series.

For those who aren't in the know, Invincible is a superhero show...but before you tune out, it's a superhero show unlike most of the other ones you've seen before.  It has a lot of violence and trauma (understatement), but also a lot of heart and idealism, even in the face of absolutely crushing setbacks.  It's that age old struggle of good vs evil, but with things ever so slightly trending towards good overall.  Maintaining your humanity in the face of threats to both liberty and life.  Lots of thorny ethical problems crop up, and my brother and I have quite spirited debates about exactly what we would do in those sorts of situations.  But there really aren't any clear answers to much of this - you just have to figure it out for yourself, much like the protagonist.

I've read the comic series it's based on, so I'm a bit ahead of the curve on the show's major plot points.  But even then, this is a fantastic adaptation.  One of the rare times where the show is as good as the book, if not slightly better.  Some stuff is different, but it still hits the same beats and tone, much like The Walking Dead.

Speaking of TWD, for some reason I'm always watching something with Steven Yeun in it.  That guy is incredible.  TWD, Legend of Korra, Final Space, Invincible, the Twilight Zone, probably a few more that slip my mind.  He has a real passion for speculative fiction and it shows.

I love the way they do the title card when someone says the word

And I think episode 6's title card is my favorite gag so far.

They also have that fake out when Mark shuts off the TV just before he says the name earlier in the episode. lol

I don't know if I can talk about this without major spoilers, but Immortal gets all sorts of hate that imho isn't justified.

This guy clocks in and out every day for thousands of years, fighting the good fight and even serving as Honest Abe for a while, which was a hell of a shift and literally saved the Union (well, sort of).  Saved the US, saved the world lots of times, worked with a ton of capes he unfortunately had to watch die.  When the world is on the line, my man is out there leading the way.

Now, does everything always work out?  Hell no.  He gets defeated a lot.  But is that his fault?  No.  Look, not everyone is Superman.  Some people are Above Average Man.  Not everyone hits the superpower lottery.  Some people just win 100 bucks.  He does what he can with what he has, and that's all that matters. Ya'll not pissed at Jubilee, ya'll better not be pissed at Immortal.

Is he pissy with his teammates and hard to work with?  Yes.  Absolutely, yes.  But consider from his perspective, he's an ultra-boomer and everyone else are social-media-addicted preteens.  Get off his lawn and give him some slack.  And sometimes, some hotshots need to chill and not fly off the handle all the time.  Looking at you, Mark.  Looking at you, Rex.  Vaguely looking in your direction, Rudy.

And on second thought, I need to rethink that preteen comparison, because my man found love after centuries of giving up on love.  That's special.  True, honest-to-goodness love.  And technically legal love, I might add.  Yes, he has his flaws, and she has her flaws, but they make each other happy and they're nice to each other.  She makes him like 20% less of a fuddy-duddy.  It's sweet.

In summary, low-tier capes are still heroes and love is love.  Don't be a hater.

I'm currently rewatching the Korean drama-horror Sweet Home.  The source material, a webtoon (read: online comic) of the same name is also excellent and highly recommended.

Basically, a bunch of people are trapped in an apartment block and monsters are outside (big mood during the pandemic).  But that's not all, people sometimes also transform into monsters and attack humans.  So if you're a human, you're pretty much hosed.

I really enjoy the sheer variety in the monsters, which reflect the personalities of their hosts.  A body-builder becomes a hulking brute, a track-and-field guy becomes a speed demon (literally), etc.

Fair warning, I would join the war of humans VS monsters on the side of monsters.  My monster form is a no-brainer, a hydra - a central mass with numerous snake-like appendages.  But I'll go easy on ya.  I'm a big fan of water and swimming, so I would likely be semi-aquatic, which means I wouldn't be a threat to humans unless they come towards me.  That's fair, I think.  But water might be scarce and humans might not have a choice.  Oh well.  If you come for me, bring the AP shells or a flamethrower, because I don't think anything less will take me down.

My brother has stated that he'd be a gargoyle with the ability to selectively grow rock-like armor at will.  He'd lie in wait on a rooftop and swoop down on people when they're distracted - extremely likely as survivors frequently have to contend with monsters at the ground level and therefore are largely unaware of anything above them.  He'd pick up people and drop them from a great height, eating the remains if possible.

Our powersets would make for a hell of a combination.  You'd have to contend with speed and maneuverability on one hand and an unrelenting, unstoppable force on the other.  Neither is easy, but being snatched up by the former and thrown to the latter is especially difficult.  Good luck!
