Yeah, I have fond memories of the days before immunizations were a thing.

I knew a guy when I was a kid who was larger than average, except that one of his legs was thinner than Twiggy's arm. Found out that he was a victim of polio. Been afraid of it ever since.

I lined up for polio shots when I was in the first grade. (c. 1956) Had no idea what the big deal was.
