Anti-Woke Hypocrisy

DarkMatter puts into words how I've been feeling about this current political landscape for years now. SJW's/"the woke" are characterized as easily offended, actively seeking out things to be offended by, virtue signaling, and lacking in self-awareness. But now we have a countermovement from the Right, which is everything the "woke" are accused of being, but dialed to eleven. Going through movie and video game trailers with a fine toothed comb, looking for anything to be offended by. A character who is a different color than they think they should be? A woman who is portrayed as strong and independent, especially in a leading role. A gay character existing? Any excuse to scream into a camera for fifty minutes. They claim to be concerned about creepy men pretending to be women to follow girls into the bathroom, something which literally never happens, but they turn a blind eye to Trump outright admitting to walking into womens' dressing rooms to "grab 'em by the pussy." What is that, if not virtue signaling? It's clearly not an honest concern of theirs, but just an excuse to be bigoted towards trans people.

"Oh, I don't like politics in my media."

"Oh? What's politics?"

"Well, black people, gay people, strong, independent women, etc."

"Ooooh! So the word 'political' is doing a lot of heavy work, isn't it?"

Seen that on Youtube. Thought there had been a revelation, turns out it was just a bunch of hard right bullshit.

So, the Right is projecting again? Surprise, surprise.

The right is where the snowflakes are. Don't like that footballer taking a knee during the national anthem before a game? Don't go to the game, even though you have season tickets. I've called guys like that snowflakes to their faces. Anything they're told not to like, they call "woke". Anytime one of them opens their mouth to complain, it's going to be projection. Fucking disgusting. Those guys are the real threat to the US, not drag queens (when is the last time has a drag queen ever molested a boy...or girl?

Didn't know DarkMatter still posted; followed him on social media until he started attacking fans and having massive flip outs in public, figured he had burnt out or something.

Him talking about others being "offended" is wild.

Calling out hypocrisy only works if the hypocrite in question feels shame. Many on both sides do not. It's one of the largest contributors to America's political divide.

He never stopped. He's one of the most rational and fair people on YouTube. I don't know what you're on about.

He has had several meltdowns on social media, as I said I figured he had burnt out; normally when content creators start publically attacking their fans their careers tend to fizzle out.

Fair play to him for dodging that trend, perhaps the social media and YouTube crowd is pretty well segregated and AFAIK it was never on his YT - as I said, unfollowed pretty quickly when that started so wouldn't know.

Social media seems designed to bring out the absolute worst in otherwise decent people, which is why I don't tend to follow it. Seeing someone at their worst in public is degrading to everyone involved.

Groups we'll have never heard of find a voice on the net. That's good and that's bad. People, same-same.

Here's a segment of the video, since I'm sure no one actually watched it.

I can't believe they'd turn Sarah Conner into a girl boss like that. Ripley suddenly becomes more competent and powerful than than the marines, without ANY training? They turned her into a Mary Sue. What a way to shit on the legacy of the original movies. [/sarc]

This sounds exactly like the Critical Drinker and his kind.

Yep; "Never meet your heroes" isn't just a fun phrase.

No; rather he had multiple arguments where he was taking extremely irrational positions while screaming at people who were seemingly not in much disagreement with him, leading me to question if he has gotten better as a content creator since then.

When the very first argument I fast forward to is him talking about others being upset and offended, it's frankly funny knowing his past - much like if I was to start getting offended here it would probably seem quite funny to a fair few as well.

I disagree with a few points that I have heard while skimming but he also seems much calmer now, so as I said - fair play to him for breaking the downward spiral and good for him. Nothing more, nothing less - it's a free world, we can civilly disagree and it's good to see him do that.
