Me: the elves successfully contacted the Far Realm.  No one knows what happened after that.  A small druid conclave exists on the outskirts but the druids there are rumored to be malformed and insane by their other kin.  The forest is super-duper haunted to the point that even outlaws give it a wide berth and if you venture into it you're almost guaranteed to die.

Nobody exploits the Eddorians, I see.

Well, Ityak-Ortheel (aka Elf-Eater) a major abomination.  If the heroes are lucky, they can potentially trigger the magical equivalent of a nuke and have just barely enough time to step through a portal to a random outer plane.  Or die in the attempt.

Caves would be a correct interpretation if (and only if) those countries were phasing out coal/oil/gas and replacing it with nothing.

I was a docent at the Endangered Wolf Center here in St. Louis. I'd be rooting for the wolves.

And I know that realistically, these would be an awful weapon.  Shhh, it's just a joke.
