In a report following on the heels of Nielsen's resignation, The New York Times detailed how Trump would call Nielsen at home early in the morning to demand that she "take action to stop migrants from entering the country."

The news outlet reported that the president would even go so far as to pressure Nielsen to take measures that were illegal to stop asylum seekers from coming to the U.S. border, including "blocking all migrants from seeking asylum."

"She repeatedly noted the limitations imposed on her department by federal laws, court settlements and international obligations," the newspaper reported.

Rather than placating the president, however, Nielsen's attempts at explaining why she could not simply shut down the asylum process would only further stoke the flames of the U.S. leader's fury, The Times reported.

Nielsen was a key figure in perpetrating the shameful lock-kids-in-cages thing, so I'm not exactly crying a river over her departure.

Miller is now calling the shots and he's a "like-minded hardliner" calling for a more "aggressive" immigration approach.  Red flags galore.

Trump is appointing James M Murray to take his place.  Don't know who that is?  Yeah, his wiki is pretty brief.  But don't worry, chances are high that there will be some sort of devastating scandal that makes him a household name.  That's how we learned about a frighteningly large number of Trump administration figures.

The news reports what appears to be a "purge" of top Homeland Security personnel because Trump wanted to get "going in a tougher direction" which certainly raises some eyebrows.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the repercussions of this are going to be.

Can't have it both ways.  One article says she was fired because she wasn't breaking the law.  She said she resigned, because of Trump's bad leadership.  There is no reason for American survival, let alone prosperity.
