Gay Turtle experiment in Turkey - Amnesty International

This is from 8 hidden cameras put in a pet shop in Turkey by Amnesty International. The clerk is informed of course. He uses the word 'gay' -we use it very common- and also the turkish word eÅŸcinsel alternately, so it is very obvious. There are good and bad comments under the video. Most are funny. 

The people in the video are not equipped to understand a turtle's gender, but they get annoyed and even angry at them being gay.

Hmm..I dunno.. Someone needs to send those turtles to gay therapy and have them convert them back to heterosexual turtles before it's too late and the turtle population of the earth just vanishes!  Of course they could just make turtle soup and be done with these deviants..

For what it's worth, in spite of all that pointless sex that fails to produce any offspring, turtles are one of evolutions greatest success stories.  The dinosaurs were a phenomenal success as a species with a duration of 165 million years, but the turtles fossil record is even longer.  Turtles were already present when the first dinosaurs appeared, and having survived the great extinction of the dinosaurs, they are still doing well today.

Edit:  Sorry about the dissertation.  I didn't watch the video until after I posted.  I can't read the comments, but I take it the pet shop owner was only saying a certain turtle was gay, just to see what people's reactions would be.

it's so weird to see people reacting like that. My little city has a Pride day. The population accepts gays, mixed race couples, and me. As a salesperson, I could sell cases of gay turtles here on novelty alone.

It's a very big majority of the planet. Also goes for your country too if not the city you live in.

Also they probably made the experiment in a relatively secular place and edited a lot of it. I'd like to see them doing that in certain places with no censorship. Turkey can change very dramatically acccording to some regions. It is really uniquely a weird mess among muslim countries.

You are fortunate.  In my little city of about 80,000, with a university no less, gay turtles would have the same reception here as the video.  Mine is a typical bible belt city; could chip it off and land it in Alabama and it would be fully accepted.
