Friends share interesting forums

I have a friend of long standing, from another forum.  He suggested I try this forum out.  Thanks Mike CL ... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Freethinking theist ... is this a contradiction?  I don't think so.  I don't have any problem with non-theists or anti-theists ... to each their own.  I don't have a problem with other theists either.  My eternal struggle is with my own emotional and mental blockages.  Interacting with others has helped me remove some of these.

Welcome. free thinking versus intellectualism. My brother, a high priest in the Mormon church, read Kahlil Gibran and introduced me to Robert Pirsig's "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and the "Lord of the Rings," but was the most dedicated Mormon I ever knew. And I worked with Mormon scientists and engineers that were pretty bright with the Air Force. I'd be more inclined to define it as the latter rather than the former.

Hey there.

We've had a couple, not many but a couple, of people who are theist who make for interesting conversation, usually first impressions are meet from the get go. We've also had some bizarre thinking atheists to, so it all comes down to the person and what they want to talk about.

Anyway, welcome, its good to have another side of things so it doesn't become an echo chamber in here.

Considering that everyone makes up their own religion from available material, or decline to do so, I don't see a contradiction.
