My name is Jason.  I am making an introduction upon request.  I am married with two kids (girls).  I am an engineering professor at a research university in the United States, and I find this fun.  I became a Christian while I was a teenager and still hold this conviction, but I have a number friends and colleagues who do not have the same beliefs.  I am also a former military officer.  I like hanging out with my family, reading, keeping in shape,  kayaking, fishing, and I am about to start ice hockey.

What brings you to an atheist forum?

That is a question I have as well.

pickelledeggs and snp1: The forum description says the forum is for 'believers,' too, but partly curiosity... and the ability to be be real with people in a way unlike one typically is at the workplace.

It does say that, but the majority of believers don't come here for benevolent conversation, you may be faced with a frosty reception, because of prior experiences.

At any rate, welcome, and you'll be welcome as long as you don't behave like a cretin

GrinningYMIR and others: Well, tell me if I am making you uncomfortable here with what I say, and I will bug off... based on what I have seen in a few other forums recently, I understand what you are saying

If you are willing to discuss what you say, then there shouldn't be any problems. Open mindedness helps.

welc00me to the forum. We have had many xians members over the years, some have stayed but most get run off. Most of us are ex-religious and some have never been religious. Most of us are very familiar with the babble and some have never bothered to look at it. Many here came to this "non-belief" after years of study and searching, some simply looked about and said, "bull-shit".

As long as you wish to add to the conversation like everyone else you are most welcome, but spare us the preaching, you cannot possibly add anything we have not already heard.

Again, welcome.

aitm: Thanks.  I probably cannot add much you havent already heard.

Ok great. We do not have a problem with the religious being a part of the forum.  As long as you're not proselytizing, spamming, or breaking the other rules, we will continue to welcome you here. [emoji3]

I thought we were going to change that.
