Hello, I tried to find this so called GOD long ago like some of my religious friends have said I need to do and All I found was emptiness because the things I did pray for I have no idea if they came true or not because the last thing I tried to pray for seemed to have fixed itself giving the right amount of time.  I go on facebook and my friends and relatives are always posting religious stuff like, pray for little Billy who is going to die soon because he has cancer.  Well I always post, I am sorry he has cancer but praying is not going to fix him.  And I am also getting into debates with people over science type views like the big bang and other things like, if someone believes in GOD they always say they can't believe in the big bang theory because science could be making it up as they go along, but since they believe GOD told someone what to write in a book that it must be true.  I always tell people that I don't push my views on them so don't push them on me and that they can to believe in GOD or whatever so life is easier for them, then its fine with me.

I just wanted to find a place I could chat once in awhile with free thinking people because it seems we are greatly out numbered in this world when it comes to thinking like a Atheist does.  I don't know how this forum works but it said If I wanted to say hello to do it here and I am guessing this is how you do it so I gave a bit of my back ground and that seems to be enough.  By the way I love the new cosmos.

I was probably even older.

I was way fortunate in that my parents if not atheist had zero use for religion, and an actual aversion to religion. The only religious lesson I remember was from my dad, who was a successful local businessman.  He told me that there was only one reason to go to church on Sunday, was to see who was sitting in the front pew, for that is the SOB that will try to screw you on Monday.

On several forums I have heard some real horror stories that can only be classified as child abuse (the type people should go to prison for), yet because it was because of religion they parents get a free pass.
