Don't be a chew toy!

I have observed the last few months a groing number of ....christians joining the forum. Invariably they become the latest "Chew toy"!
Somehow we should all be able to help them join the forum without actually becoming this distinctive but dishonorable person.
Any suggestions on how to achieve this.
Should we modify the instruction. Maybe we could have a sub routine that is word generated like: If a sequence of words is typed like "Jesus loves yes I know because the bible tells me so..." The software would take over and demand that the poster must to all logical satisfaction prove a god, jesus, and the validity of the bible. If indeed they can't meet that requirement the software should freeze their account and not let them post until they do so. Furthermore to all accounts that have ever generated such software, on a regular basis they should have to pass a simple IQ test before they can post again. If they pass the IQ test 3 times in succession their account will be cleared of ever having to take the test again.
To prevent REAL forum members from being inconvienenced by this operation, there should be a grandfather program that recognizes veterans of the forum.
Just joking!

For the first time I agree with you, there have been lots of Christians and trolls in general in the past month or so

ATHEIST forum, you'd think that would be enough to dissuade them from coming, but they have to "save" us and blah blah blah

One or more of us should post a variation of this list I've been posting lately in their intro threads:

QuotePlease remember these general guidelines while you're "bringing something interesting" to our discussions:
  • Every argument you make about religion is one we have heard a thousand times.
  • Most of what you say will be dismissed out of hand. (See above.)
  • If we're in a good mood, we'll answer your arguments.
  • If you answer our counterpoints by repeating your assertion, we'll make fun of you.
  • If you're a good boy and we're feeling exceptionally generous, we might actually take the time to explain our beliefs and the reasoning behind them to you.
  • Should you demonstrate the latter point to be a waste of our time, we usually start calling for the banhammer.
  • Besides you, we have exactly one theist on the forum at the moment who has not either left or been banned.

Have fun, now. :-D

I've read the list and you are quite consistant in posting it. It always makes me laugh...out loud, because I know that they just ignore it and that you are really sincere when you post it. It always comes true...every single time!

Awe come on. I know there is a great deal more that you agree with me on. You just don't like me and thats fine, I seldom like me either. I had an argument with myself and I was so damned smug it really pissed me off, but damn if I wasn't right.

Well, we are both atheists aren't we?

we have opposing political views, but the number one way to start a fight is via politics :P

Let's crush some of these trolls now!

If you walk into a biker bar and don't know anything about bikers, and then start calling Harley Davidsons junk and saying dudes in leather are a bunch of pansies, you can see certain results happening.

The fact that these people come on here without lurking and spending time studying the numerous threads that have already dealt with all the topics they would bring up, informs me they are not worth the effort to warn about anything.

Or the fact they can see the topics and go to the various linked sites and study them for themselves, tells me they didn't come here to learn but to push their agenda on us.

In other words, they are fair game.

Get the horses and swords ready to smite them for blaspheming our religion---it's in the Bible and Koran.       Solitary. And for this it will be Kiang---the Wild Ass---show no mercy!

Poison Tree

We, as a forum, tend to be overly excited to welcome newcomers (atheist or theist), like a big dog determined to jump up on whoever is at the gate. While this can certainly frighten away some visitors who, perhaps after some time, maybe have turned out to be interesting posters, it can also help quarantine the stupid. I wonder if some of the chew toy-ness is a response to the type of quick challenge theists tend to receive here. If they were not questioned early on would they read and smarten up or simply spread their trolling into extra topics?

One thing I've wondered about is requiring an avatar and/or a signature (would need a size/character count so as not to let just a period suffice) before someone could post (sorry mykcob4, no posting for you   ). Maybe needing to spend 5 minutes designing their "face" would be enough to deter a troll or two (likely a few non-trolls, as well).

Seems like it has been a while since anyone has been locked in ETD; if they are sent there, can they still read post outside?

The Skeletal Atheist

Look I need a chew toy or a fuck toy. I don't like sticking my dick in crazy (made that mistake with the preacher's son), so the theists will have to be chew toys.

That is exactly why they come here--because we are their latest salvation project. They have much the same attitude of missionaries going overseas to convert the unwashed heathens in the jungle. Traveling halfway across the world is too scary and too much work, though, so they prefer being a missionary from the comfort of their own homes, and they do that by infiltrating atheist websites. They believe themselves superior to us in the same way that white missionaries believe themselves superior to indigenous tribes, and imagine that their greater spiritual intellect will save us from our sins (in which we must be miserably wallowing). Even if we kick them out or chase them away, they'll brag to their compatriots about how they obviously won the argument, or else we wouldn't have been so quick to get rid of them.

Quote from: "drunkenshoe"I can't really get pissed off to believers of any kind enough to bite. I get pissed off to atheists and intelligent people.

These people do not see themselves as chew toys. They see themselves as saints who continues trying to 'help' people see the truth while being attacked by 'ignorant people' from every corner. They come here to be martyred. So don't keep your hopes up.
I'm more or less on your page here.

I personally think we should exile them to a separate part of the forum designated as a troll/xtian - chewtoy thread. That way they don't get the satisfaction of being able to post on other parts of the forum/spam the rest of the forum (I'm looking at you, Mmmatlas) and they don't get the satisfaction of feeling like they frustrated the mods enough to get banned.

If they want to stay and be a spamming pest they can be a chew toy for all I care, I just don't like it when they ruin everyone elses good time by being a pest in the rest of the topics and welcome section.

So that's what I have to say about this. Make an exile section designated for spammers and trolls.
