The Denial Dilemma

I suppose it is something that I will struggle to wrap my head around for a long time. Lots of good input from everybody but the point that rings loudest to me is from shiranu.

"But one must first wish to seek the truth; regardless of how smart you are, if you do not look for what is right, you are not guaranteed to find it."

However this causes me to think why is this not built into everybody. Every single person should wish to seek the truth in all matters. Am I over thinking this whole thing?

I think part of the problem is that believers believe they have already found the truth, and so they stop looking any more.  When you combine that with the fact that religious programming often precedes a secular education in religious households, you've got a recipe for building airtight minds.
