Just my thing.
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

I thought we were supposed to get wiser with age. Looking around, I sure see foul, angry, bitchy boomers and older zoomers. Many of them running our failed country. My recollection of grandmas was caring gentle folk....baking pies, knitting, gardening...not running around drunk and screaming at Mexicans or gays.

Old people blasting their speaker phones in waiting rooms, cutting ahead in lines or running you over with shopping carts. Telling their kids and grandkids to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" instead of helping. I think that pretty much sums up the legacy of my "me generation". Entitled destroyers of the greatest democracy and killers of science.

Some of us do get wiser with age. Myself, for instance. I was really stupid when I was a kid. Ran away from home several times, got in trouble with the law, drank and caroused, didn't finish high school, was seldom working a job, was homeless much of the time. Such things are definitely not wise. But now I don't drink, smoke tobacco or marijuana, don't carouse, stay out of jail, have a home to live in, and generally have a pretty good life. Too bad I wasted so many decades being an idiot, but there's nothing I can do now about that, I just have to get myself through life until I no longer have to deal with it.

It's like that with some people I know too. After the parents divorced I lived some years in a small dump of a town on the edge of The Everglades. Drug planes would make drops all the time and the sheriff never came out there. Half the kids were dealers/users. Most are long dead now, but some got out of there and flourished. Those kids later told me they thought that I thought, I was too good for them, LOL. I was busy. They always wanted a lift to score a dime bag. Sorry, got a calculus exam tomorrow. My bro made it out of there too, so glad of that. I understand how (as the song goes) you usually wind up where you began, but not always ;)

I was getting picked up from the hospital a few months ago and they wheeled me out in a chair. There was a construction crew partially blocking the patient pickup drive thru. So, I guess we were blocking it as I was getting picked up. I turned and looked behind us, and a boomer driving a courtesy golf cart was losing his shit, flailing like he was drowning or something. When we sopped at the stop sign to get out of the lot, he comes driving towards our car and screams "asshole". We ignored him. I called the hospital and told them they have a maniac volunteer driving the cart. I bet parking lot Hitler is still there bossing patients around.

My parents (adopted when I was 3) got divorced when I was 10. Neither wanted me so they put me in a boys' camp in East Texas for about a year and a half or so. They let me skip the 5th grade, so that was OK.
Then I was in a foster home, again in East Texas. 4 years of that, then ran away enough times that they wouldn't keep me anymore, so when I was 16, I went to an orphanage in Dallas. Finished the 10th grade, got in trouble with the law, and was allowed to join the US Navy. Got in trouble again and got kicked out of the Navy. Then just bummed around the country, never staying in one place very long.
Fortunately, I was never into drugs, except marijuana.
Finally ended up going to prison 4 times.
Never went to the same school twice.
Had a lot of fun, though!

Wow. That's a hell-of-a start. So glad you ended up in a good place !!!

Well, I haven't exactly "ended up" yet, but wherever I'm going, I'll get there soon.

I know sometimes life is not so great even for rich kids if their parents are insufferable pricks. I mean, what would it take to raise a jackass like DJT?

So, flags were at half-mast today and since I am and will always be out of touch, I didn't know we had another damned mass shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. But news outlets peopled by similarly out of touch reporters were speculating that Trump had died.

Because people are hoping he dies.

I, for one, hope he doesn't because I do NOT want Vance to become president.

Oof.  The worm must've chowed down on that part of the brain.

Nobody

That worm died of starvation.

Cassia

With Jr, was the worm brain or heroin addiction. I'd say both. What a clown.

Fascists break under pressure.  Just ask Hitler.

How much will it cost the American taxpayers to change all of the Defense department's paperwork to Department of War!?
