A long video, but the latest on the biological origins of violence ... which seems particularly important this year ;-(

If it is human it is about biology.  If it is about human behavior it is about biology.

The professor and the audience are secular liberal Jews of course, so don't let that fool you.  The science is real, even if the secularism and liberalism are ideological (aka biology).

This same professor at Stanford, had a great lecture years ago, about the biological origins of religion too.

What if you just like killing people?
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

I did, but I will expand a bit more.  Ideology is BS.  Philosophy is BS.  Religion is BS.  Biology is not BS.  He presents the biology of this.  Human beings are very dangerous, very contradictory.  He is a neurologist.  The amygdala governs violent, the frontal lobe moderates it.  But on a time spectrum.  The amygdala deals with fight/flight ... because you don't have time to discuss Plato with a tiger.  If you are on the other side of the zoo, you have time to deal with fear, in a more measured way.

So what does a cop do?  He has less than one second to decide to shoot someone.  Giving a recent famous example ... law has no impact on biology.  The possible perpetrator is usually out of control, all amygdala and no frontal lobes ... otherwise he would do more to stay out of trouble.  And a million shades of variance in between.  Cause/effect extends from your genes, to your uterine experience, to your child raising, to the sum of all your adult experience.  Why one person commits a crime or a cop decides to use force on that ... happens very fast and is unintelligible.

So no, there is no solution to human biology problems, you either live with it, or off yourself to avoid your and other people's monkey king nature.  Of course people will claim "science" but this is "popular" science like scifi.  It used to be science that Blacks were inferior.  But science was wrong.

Agreed. Besides the subject, he is a master of teaching. If am not mistaken he was shown among the examples of 'how to lecture' at somewhere but couldn't find it. Don't know if it is the same professor.

He was teaching many years at Stanford.  A poor and ignorant place.  His one hour lecture (hard to find) on the biology of religion is masterful.  Internet posters are the masters of all subjects, even if they haven't gotten out of HS.  Believe the science?  No, believe your amygdala, the frontal cortex is over-rated.

She probably has read Selfish Gene and the other tons of books printed afterwards?

I was going to say it is surprising that you posted the video but then yeah...you wrote this. Now, we are sure that you are not an imposter or a body snatcher but just Baruch.

So it isn't enough to transgender all the little boys, you have to cut out their amygdala, like a new kind of frontal lobotomy.
