Maybe you should stop starting threads for awhile.  Just sit back and enjoy the forum, make comments when you have something to say, and get to know everyone.  Try not to "force" yourself on people.

Because we all know how many situations have been resolved through escalation. The forum has an "ignore" function for a reason. I use it whenever I don't feel like dignifying someone's position with a response.

If you derive enjoyment from responding, then by all means do so. Otherwise, just walk away.

I really don't intend to escalate anything nor would I allow it to happen.  I am not the sort that angers much.  And I am really not as bad as some might see me.  I really love this place and the people here.  If I receive a well considered response I will try to respond as well I can.  And if anyone thought I needed to respond I would truly appreciate hearing that.  Other than that this is becoming a stimulating and enlightening encounter for me.

At least that is from my point of view.  At its extreme it becomes the mind of the sociopath.  At its least it makes us stupid and limits understanding we might gain from others and from within ourselves.  Mike has very aptly pointed out for me that he observes me as talking down to people.  I can understand that but what I am really doing is seeking to become more detached within myself such that I might gain greater understanding and interract in more thoughtful ways.  And I am not referring to being polite though I could clearly improve in that area as well.  Arrogance clearly ties into religious views an atheist views as well.  What do you think about arrogance?

Arrogance affects everyone.  It can serve to give one a sense of superiority, and it can also be used as a way of rationalizing or dismissing circumstances or realities that we don't like.  I don't think any person or group has a corner on this market.  I see it everywhere, including in myself.

Arrogance is a by product of survival gone awry..Folks become to self important once they reach a certain level and begin believing their own bullshit.. It takes a lot of bullshit to survive.
