The next county over from where I live has a law called the "Blue Law". It states that, on Sundays, only food can be sold. So any store that is selling clothes, hardware, etc. cannot be open. Even a store like Walmart has to close aisles that don't have food in them. I don't know if this law is inspired by a religion of some sort.

Here in Arizona you couldn't buy liquor before 12 O'clock on Sundays, now you can. Thank God!  :jook: Solitary

I live in Prescott, and it baffles me that almost everything here closes between 4 and 6 PM. The only places that are open later are the bars and the bigger stores like Albertson's and Walmart. The whole of downtown Prescott pretty much shuts down early, which is strange in the summer time, when it's tourist season and people want to shop later. I've heard tourists ask, "Why does everything close so early here??" Maybe the owners of these smaller businesses feel they would spend more money than they would make if they stayed open late. I guess that could be true now that the economy sucks and people aren't buying as much, but even before the economic fuckery, they were closing early. Oh, and a lot of them close on Mondays instead of Sundays. What's up with that?
