Joe ... did you just wake up, after going to bed in 1991?

Either you discuss this seriously, or I will ignore...

Not when you consider that the vast number of countries on this planet are practicing capitalism or some form of it, and that includes China. There are very few countries practicing hard core socialism (Cuba, Laos, Vietnam). I'm not saying there is no problem with capitalism, but it has proven to be far more successful than socialism. You need to create wealth before distributing it, and socialism has proven to be a disaster in the sense that it can't successfully create wealth in a sustainable way. Now the ups and downs of the economy are part of a normal cycle: no government can stop that, regardless whether it's a socialist or capitalist government. So you can't use that bust/boom cycle as evidence that capitalism doesn't work. But capitalist countries have proven to recover faster than socialist countries when the economy has tanked. The facts are there.

QuoteThe richest 1% now has as much wealth as the rest of the world combined, according to Oxfam.

It uses data from Credit Suisse from October for the report, which urges leaders meeting in Davos this week to take action on inequality.

Oxfam also calculated that the richest 62 people in the world had as much wealth as the poorest half of the global population.

Yeah. What a great system. I mean really... what good is wealth generation if only the top tier get to enjoy it (and yes I consider myself in a higher tier [because I am] than the majority of the world... but I still "struggle" to get by and am in debt)? I would everyone be "meh" lower middle class than 62 people owning the wealth and however many umph-billion people working for scraps.

The good of the astronomical many at least outweighs the wants of the abysmally few.
