QuoteIt is not our business to determine his merits, that is up to US voters," Mr Putin told reporters after his annual televised news conference. "But he is the absolute leader in the presidential race."
"He is a very outstanding person, talented, without any doubt."

New York billionaire Mr Trump has spoken warmly about Mr Putin's tough approach to foreign policy in the past.
"I think that I would probably get along with him very well" - Donald Trump, on Vladimir Putin (October)

It is definitely too early to mark Mr Putin's comments as a negative for the New York businessman, however. The Russian leader has long been admired by conservatives who say his resolute demeanour and toughness are qualities lacking in the current White House occupant. Talk to Trump supporters, and they'll tell you those are exactly the kind of attributes they admire in their man.

What a strange world we live in; the most ra-ra-America! amongst us loves the evil commies and the evil commies love him back. What a time to be a live.

I always wanted a president like Putin so this gives me hope.

Nonsensei

Putin is a strong leader, and republicans like that.

Hitler was also a strong leader.
And on the wings of a dream so far beyond reality
All alone in desperation now the time has come
Lost inside you'll never find, lost within my own mind
Day after day this misery must go on

This is very much the proverbial compliment from Hitler.

In a sane world Putin liking a guy would be a campaign ending thing. This is not a sane world.

Well, America is steering towards socialism  (Bernie Sanders?).

Socialism is communism lite. It doesn't work very well. See Europe.

Yes... higher standards of living... citizens not being crushed by overwhelming debt... higher over-all happiness and contentness with life... not living in fear that if you get sick it will drive you into poverty... a lower rate of poverty... a much smaller wealth gap between the top and bottom... politicians that didn't have to run on campaigns of fear to win...

Sounds terrible.

Of course facts haven't swayed you before so... here I go yelling at the brick wall again.

I am sure there is some backward little town in Alabama, where you can get your picture taken with Boss Hogg.  Are we showing the sum of all our fears?  What next ... fat people?  I can see you are ready to parachute into Russia to kill all the commies ... since Putin supports Assad and is anti-Ukrainian-Nazi.  I am surprised you haven't built a time machine to go back and kill Muhammad.

Socialism/Capitalism is a false dichotomy ... neither system works for you or me, neither system is free.  Party slave, wage slave, debt slave, chattel slave ... it is slavery all the way down.

And the usual hyperbole ... Putin isn't Stalin, and Merkel isn't Hitler.  But then Obama isn't FDR and Osborne isn't Churchill.  Burlescone however is much funnier than Mussolini.

Strong leader vs weak leader.  So hard to choose ;-)  Maybe the point isn't to "follow the leader".

I like Putin ... but I am not running for office.  Obama is a total incompetent ... even as a sock puppet of the CIA.

Unfortunately, the poster child of socialist Europe, Sweden, is having a bit of trouble because of it's socialist policies.

People like Putin because he's taken on a rugged masculine image and he unapologetic about it.  In fact, he makes sure everyone sees it and uses it to his political advantage.  Sure, he's definitely not a good man, but he's pretty damn good at being manly.  Men admire him because they want to be manly like him, and women like him for other reasons.  Have you ever wondered why women go for the cocky assholes?  It's a primal thing.
Trump pales in comparison to Putin's bad-ass image and probably wants to be more like him, just a little bit.

If only Hitler had been more successful, then Sweden could have continued to be the lackey of the Nazis.  I knew a guy who was a sailor in the Atlantic US Navy in WW II.  We were just weeks away from bombing Stockholm and invading them.

Today if Sweden has a problem it is their open door policy.  But then maybe that is enough to make them socialist (on top of everything else they do that repudiates the American Way).
