Hello Fellow Atheists

A quick introduction to GreatLife.

I stopped believing in the person Jesus Christ when I was 13 and had lots of unanswered questions.

I stopped believing in God or gods by the time I was twenty and declared myself an atheist shortly thereafter. But that was many years ago.

Mostly liberal with some conservative beliefs. i have voted in both political parties.... And cussed both political party candidates.

Looking forward to contributing.

Welcome to the forum!

You'll fit right in I'm sure.  I was never a believer myself, outside of the forced church sessions.  Catholics huh? lol

Welcome.

I don't have much to add, this time, because you only have one post, and the way things are going lately, new people aren't returning much. I don't want to get my hopes up too soon.

I was afraid of being chastised for posting without an intro... Seems to be the way.

If you take the time to look, I joined long ago. So I have already hung around longer than most.

Thank you for the welcome.

Some hints.

When I lived in California, I was considered a conservative. But back in my home state, I am labeled a damn liberal. I have been insulted by both sides of the political spectrum.

I was trained as an engineer at a top five engineering college - and graduated with honors. Yet show moments of stupidity that amaze even me when examined in retrospect.

I am divorced with two grown daughters, and that experience has shaded my worldview.

I worry a lot about climate change... I was raised as a farmer in the Midwest... And was very much affected by the sustainable farm movement. Yet I am a big supporter of Monsanto and the positive changes to farming they have delivered during my life. That has shaded my worldview as well.

You will find it hard to categorize me...

We are similar in that ...

I have lived in California twice.  I was an engineer when I was young.  I am divorced and have one grown daughter.  Used to be middle of the road politically.

We are dis-similar in that ...

If I gardened, I would be organic, not Monsanto ... because kosher.  Don't care for revolutionaries in general, including green revolutionaries.  I don't worry too much about climate change since I don't believe we can do much in a practical way about it ... unless you live or work near the ocean ... in which case you need to move.

I have done organic gardening... Also have a large organic hay field used to feed organic cows.  But from a consumers viewpoint... Organics are a sham.
