Obviously the Feds planted evidence on him and framed him.  Did he take a frame from Hobby Lobby? ;-)

The Totally Optional Ten Commandments are sacred!
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

There are two types of ideas: fact and non-fact. Ideas which are not falsifiable are non-fact, therefore please don't insist your fantasies of supernatural beings are in any way factual.

Doctrine = not to be questioned = not to be proven = not fact. When you declare your doctrine fact, you lie.

Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven, but they're still weird.

Well goody for the Christians if they can forgive themselves for the evil which they do to maintain their delusions!

That's the rub of forgiveness ..no amount of rotten is ever bad enough.  As long as you can say those magic words, DING! Your forgiven and get the free pass.
Now,  if you're not a Christian and a liberal especially no amount of asking for forgiveness is enough. You'll go straight to hell and probably to prison first unless you confess your sins and can convince the judge that you really really REALLY mean it and have switched political sides unless you're poor or black in which case you can only be forgiven by the big invisible thing in the sky or have rich relatives willing to not have the stain of embarrassment to the family name in which case the big magic thing in the sky will have a word with the judge and you get the free pass. See how it works?  All you gotta do is A. Be rich. B. Be a conservative or C. Have rich relatives willing to talk to the big invisible thing in the sky on your behalf .... Being white also helps, but isn't always required as long as you've always been conservative.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

This all came about because of Gentile misunderstanding of Jewish jurisprudence.  If you sin against people, you are required to compensate them, in addition to making a true confession and apology.  That is real repentance.  Only if you do a sin against G-d (something completely not like a sin against people) then you can undergo some Biblical expiation at the Temple etc to discharge that sin.  But that also requires a true confession and apology.  The priests are there to benefit from the repentance of the people for sins against G-d, not sins against each other.  Biblically, if you wrecked another person's car in an accident ... the compensation would be to buy them a replacement.  If you accidentally burned down the neighbor's house, you would have to buy them a new house.

Cheap grace has degraded both Biblical and secular jurisprudence.  The ultimate degradation being, that all sin against people is a sin against G-d, and all you have to do is to expiate relative to G-d ... and your victims are out of luck.  That is how we are doing white collar crime now.  The corporation pays a fine, while pleading "no lo contendere" and the management isn't punished at all.  And in fact, the corporate fine, is then used to offset their corporate taxes.  This is completely un-Biblical and unconscionable.

So the Jews never corrupted that idea in any way, it took the Gentiles to do that? Something culturally superior about Baruch's group? Not a bit of a No True Scotsman plea here?

I am speaking of standards, not actual people.  And yes, if the Gentiles hadn't totally gotten Jesus wrong, and then used him as a cheerleader for the Roman emperor ... there would be no Christianity as we know it today.  Now I am not saying that Jews don't get Gentile stuff wrong ... like what is up about "blood pudding".  Yeech!  Oh, maybe just an primitive iron supplement?  Thanks but no thanks.  I will take haggis any day instead.
