I Need Help

I’ve talked to loads of people in my life. I’ve frequently talked to several in a day. I’ve engaged them in conversations strange to them. I hold their attention with honesty and humor. I’ve noticed that they are stuck in belief systems and idol worship. They just innately know that their education and the news are the truth. They will not even consider veering from their core.

These people do take my advice in mundane areas. I help them save money, discover what they want to eat, and find entertainment. I’m a salesman who’s really just trying to help people get the most out of life. However, I’m selling other peoples stuff. I’m not making any money from my suggestions. I entertain people with performance and banter. They laugh unexpectedly, but I don’t even get a tip. I do these things because I think of people like I do my cats. I love them and want them to have more than they need and all they want.

An atheist friend from 25 years back tried to tell me that the most important thing to do in life is make money. I, being a compassionate socialist, disagreed. I thought the most important thing was to bring people to our level. 25 years later, I realize that’s not going to happen.

My atheist friend and I tried to collaborate. After an initial excitement and exchange of sophomoric ideas and diagrams, I started chasing women again. I’ve spent a lot of time chasing women. I’m sure it has something to do with biology. Anyway, I’ve been with my current girlfriend for about 10 years, so I’m starting to feel a little settled down. I still flirt, but I think I can keep my mind on collaboration.

I know a lot of people, but I don’t have any friends. This might have something to do with my atheism. I’ve allowed my brain to function in ways other people have run from. My thoughts make for interesting entertainment, but they’re not marketable to mainstream culture. I would like to give the people what they want. I’m not talking about selling out. I can’t. I’m talking about projects designed to draw in the consumer. Whatever subliminal message I can work in is gravy. I know I can’t change the world, but I biologically can’t stop trying. It’s part of me.

If anyone would like to Disneyfy their creativity with me, let me know. I’ve been writing and recording music since the early 80’s. I’ve practiced many visual arts. I worked in computer art and animation in the late 80’s. I’ve programmed. I write and storyboard. I’ve directed. I’ve designed haunted houses. I’ve been designing papercraft since I was 5. I have a papercraft item for sale at RPGNow. I’ve rewritten rules for amateur board game creators. I perform and routine magic. I act and do voice work. I dance like Napoleon Dynamite. I could go on.

I’d like to make enough money to stop renting and buy a place in the wilderness. I’d like to go off grid. It’d be nice to build houses on my land so others could join me. I know that last part is a fantasy. People have a difficult time living together.

I’ll leave you with some music. This one is a little heavy. Some guy who heard this on the intertubes made a strange video for it without asking. I’m flattered.

I write all sorts of music. Here’s a Euro disco mix. It’s all me on the keyboard. There are no commercial loops. It’s sad that I have to clarify this.

You are an artsy-crafty John Galt?  Kind of like the "undesirable version" of the American football athlete in the recent TV commercials where the "desirable version" says, don't be like "that" me?
Ha’át’íísh baa naniná?
Azee’ Å,a’ish nanídį́į́h?

What are you doing?
Are you taking any medications?
Don't do that.

GTFO, you're too talented to waist your time posting. Go and make oodles of money. Good luck.

Wow!  If you are half like what you say you are--quite the guy!  I like your music.  Actually, I think I like you.  And I don't know you. :)

I know relatively little about football, and I barely watch antenna TV. My sport is BattleBots. I enjoy going to my girlfriend's roller derby bouts. I also like to watch skateboarding, snowboarding, and parkour.

I was in middle school football just to please my crazy father. I hated it and was too small and uninterested to even make it to the field. I had a growth spurt my freshman year. I started hurting people and getting a lot of time on the field. My school then got some TRS80 III's. I dropped out to figure out the machines during that same hour. There were 5 of us, unsupervised, armed only with the awesome manual. The manual is a complete course in BASIC. I have 1 in my book collection, http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=androidlove&collection=-1&shelf=shelf&sort=tags&sort=tags There's not a lot of fiction. I sometimes read Terry Pratchett from my girlfriend's huge Pratchett collection.

My strenuous activity is life . . . . itself! I like to compete at board games. Here's my collection of old school games. https://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/androidlove?own=1&subtype=boardgame&gallery=large&ff=1
I have more puzzle boxes, chess boards, and backgammon sets. I also have a couple of indie abstracts that aren't in the database yet.

My favorite TV shows are The Carol Burnett Show, The Brady Bunch, and any Star Trek but Enterprise.

I'd really like to have some friends and collaboration. I think everyone involved in the endeavor could increase their output. It also helps to have a consensus.

I look forward to much more conversation as the days roll on.

Welcome. This.

I'm not quite sure what you need help with. Is it buying the house in the wilderness or just making friends?  I only have a few friends because I simply don't really trust most people. They're mostly liars and cheats.  I'd suggest buying an axe and walk out into public lands where the growth is dense enough that you can build a wooden skyscraper and nobody would notice.
Good luck.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

I've often wondered if I had enough friends.  In fact, making friends has been hard all my life, especially as a child.  I just did not feel good enough to have friends.  As I grew out of childhood, it slowly dawned on me that I was just a good or able as the next guy.  I then started learning that the first friend I needed to cultivate was myself.  I have since grown to like myself.  I now find that me, myself and I make a pretty good team.  And so, I don't worry about it any longer.  I will never be friendless, nor lack something to do--so I don't worry about it.

Yes, animals can be opportunistic. Our species seems to have a knack for it. I too am looking for opportunities, but in an honest way. I need help with production. I'm looking for collaboration on marketable products. In addition to artistic projects, I have many ideas for more tangible items. I'm not interested in going away. I'm here to find colleagues.

I'm not worried about building the homestead. I just need money for that.

Many of my closest relationships are built on the firm foundation of a mutual disgust. There is nothing more horrendous to the human spirit than those nice people that are constantly pleasant, the smug hippy bastards.

Yes, if you want friends make sure they're people you absolutely cannot stand to be near.. Such sage advice ..

I suspect Jonb was being sarcastic.
