Yes, but I was more referring to reactions to policy, not slaves to fashion. Donald Trump's change in his opinions about abortion and homosexuality is more about pandering to a specific audience, not in new research or economic situations.

For example, when George Bush promised not to raise taxes and then had to due to a recession, I get that. Things change. But George Bush didn't do a random survey of his constituency, decide it was more liberal, and then decide to start taxing people out of popular demand.

Triangulating is what the Clintons do ;-(

Thanks for the link. I tried to look for sources on the cost then in the 1950's so as to estimate what would be the cost now, but couldn't find any link. All in all, if Trump wants to cut taxes - what else from the GOP - and building a fence between the US and Mexico, my guess is altogether with ousting illegal immigrants that would shoot the deficit through the roof.

There is no free lunch ... unless you are an R ... or a D ;-))

If you compare the average annual salary for a congressman ($170,000) and the average net worth by the time they leave office ($7,000,000), you know that we are in the wrong business.

The Don is still leading according to a new poll

Can we still call him a fluke?

All signs point to him making a Satanic pact with the Fox News cabal.  I think I could hear the sheep scream all the way to where I am ;-(

So is "fair and balanced" Fox News.  But that hasn't stopped them or anyone else.  Maybe the Fox Folk were just sharing Jesus' real body and real blood ...

Trump said the other day on Fox News: I go to church as much as I can. Always on Christmas. Always on Easter. Always when there's a major occasion. And during the Sundays. I'm a Sunday church person. I'll go when I can.

You can never tell if he is telling the truth or the truth his listeners want to hear. I'm still hoping he wins the nomination so that the Democrats can keep the White House.

To give credit where credit is due, the guy is right about Atlantic City. I don't know how much of this gets out to the wider world, but the whole place is collapsing. It's an open question as to whether or not there will even be any casinos left in the city in 5 years, not to mention the several dozen non-casino hotels in the neighboring cities. I speak as someone who lives in one of those neighboring cities; everything here has turned to shit and it's kind of silly to blame The Donald for that. He's also no longer affiliated with the Trump Taj Mahal and has fought to have the company stop using his name.

People who try to live as a high stakes gambler, there or Los Vegas or the Indian casinos ... end up as winos in the street.  I don't begrudge the Native Americans my money though.  A nation based solely on finance, particularly the investment bank kind ... is trying to become one giant casino.  GB and the US are in the lead there.

tRump strikes me as the epitome of crony capitalism. Though he's claimed to be completely self financed I suspect that if you dug deeper he's struck deals to raise campaign funds through all manner of dark money channels that are nearly impossible to trace. The networks are complicit in giving him all the free publicity anyone could ask for and one hook he uses to great effect is that no publicity is bad publicity. He's hoping that by being as insulting as possible people will take it as merely saying what he thinks and that's always good enough. It isn't.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

It would be barbaric to send away 11-12 million illegal immigrants, but how would he do it? How much would it cost??

Trump is right about one thing, but with the wrong mindset. We do not get the best from Mexico in terms of illegal immigrants. They are the poor and desperate and illiterate that are willing to risk their lives to get here. But I have known a few over the years, and every one I personally knew did everything they could to improve their lot.

They come up here to earn an income, even the least amount is more than they can earn there. They buy clothes for their families and send them down to Mexico, along with money and what ever they can acquire. I am sure there are many that scam social security and workman's comp, but I personally have not known any. And they work their ass off at any job they are given. If you see somebody around here edging lawns, driving lawn mowers or working concrete, he is likely a Hispanic.

That is what investment banking is all about ... CIA channels everywhere.

People who think that guest workers and illegals are scammers, are the same people who think that every poor person is a scammer, or every person browner than they are.  Probably same percentage of scammers as any other population segment.  And of course millionaires being funded by the Federal Reserve aren't scammers ... no sir!

You mean they're not rapists or welfare bums? Shocking...

Except for what he reads in the tabloids, I doubt it very much that Trump has had too deal with many illegals in his life. If he were elected president, which I don't think he will, he would not carry his threat of deporting them. He's using this issue as he knows that's what the base wants to hear.
