"Ballerina". Looks like a Carpathian John Wick. Judgement reserved until I can watch it without interruption from a pack of  yard apes. (And their parents.)
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

Just watched The Jurassic Games, about 10 convicted killers trapped on a virtual island full of dinosaurs!
Good acting, a lot of action, drama, suspense.
The last surviving convict goes free, but any of them who dies in the virtual world are lethally injected in the real world.
It's a combination of The Running Man, The Hunger Games, and Jurassic Park.
A fun movie! 👍

Okay, "Ballerina" was a Wick-level movie. Didn't expect more and certain got it. JW had to be in this one to give it credence and the stoner in the phone booth would have approved. Worth a watch, but don't make the ambulance driver wait if you other things going on.

I just finished what I first thought was a movie, but then I realized that it was a documentary about the development of Sophia, the robot, and the people involved in it's creation.
It's called My Robot Sophia.
Kinda creepy, really.

Many years ago I read a book called King Rat, based on a novel by James Clavell, about a Japanese POW camp. It was heavy going, but I got through it.
Now I've seen the 1965 movie of the same title, and, of course, it was also very heavy. I was determined to get to the end  though, to see Corporal King get his just deserts.
But he just rode away in the truck along with the other yank officers.
Good movie, but hard to watch due to the hardships of the prisoners and the wretchedness of the title character.

The movie Borat came up on my YouTube feed, so I watched it, since I hadn't seen it before. I was really glad when it was over.

Ballerina: Fits neatly into the Wickeverse. More of the same. Expands the genre, opening up opportunities for a number of potential spin-off. Think Godzillaverse with guns. If you liked the Wicks you'll probably like this one. Sequel has been green lighted IIRC.

I saw the first Wick. I think I can miss the rest.

I was taught to shoot by a one-legged Marine GySgt who retired to my small town in Indiana. He taught me in exchange for mucking out his horse stalls. He spent hours with me each month when I told him I was going to join the USN. After four years of that I scored max on the Indiana Highway Patrol range. (He had a permanent guest pass there, thanks of a grateful nation.) This background makes the Wickeverse both funnier and more fun than most people will know. My case is unique so I don't tell other people what they should or shouldn't watch. It's fun, in a silly way, watching the run-and-gun scenes.

And the Malinois are my favorites after the kid who escaped from the phone booth.

Just finished a really good movie, called The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, about a marine biologist tracking a shark that killed and ate one of his crewmen.
Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Defoe, Angelica Houston, and Cate Blanchett, along with a bunch of others I've not heard of before.
Maybe Bill Murray's best film!
I found out about it while watching a video about Bill Murray's movies and wanted to check it out, and I'm very glad that I did.

Scream.  I don't see the appeal.  Very meta and navel-gazing, which could've been good if done well, but here is just lampshading.

Like the "look behind you" trope but the character is saying it while watching a slasher when he himself is in the same predicament.  Ironic.  That gets a reluctant chuckle out of me, but nothing more.  The "rule" that sex and drinking makes you likely to die but virginity is some sort of protection gets a groan out of me.  So illogical.  Besides, isn't the "rule" just in the Friday the 13th movies, where the villain has a grudge about that since Jason died due to negligence?  That's not a rule, that's just how one franchise works.

There were soooo many misdirects that I felt like they'd pan to the neighbors' cat in a ghostface mask.  It was stupid and didn't really throw me off the scent.  There were lots of misdirects, but very few people with connections to the victims.  Didn't take a rocket scientist to put together a very, very short list of suspects.

And towards the end, it got kinda cartoonish and goofy with Ghostface's combat ability and executive function declining drastically versus the opening scene.  That really took me out of the movie.

The only thing I really enjoyed was that the heroine(s) reacted pretty bravely and pragmatically in circumstances where most people would freeze or run screaming and trip over a log or something.  Well, for the most part.  The sex scene was definitely a fumble on the field and it's bizarre to get steamed up while scared or suspicious.  Those two things don't go together.

Oh, I don't know about that. Linda featured prominently in my distracted state when I was on the Mekong. She was the proverbial "Girl Next Door" and the first set of female breasts I saw "live". She had her cap set for either me or my older brother. The brother that looked like a cross between Paul Newman and John Wayne. And was as stupid as a box of rocks. But that didn't matter at the time. So I'm getting shot at and shit at and I'm thinking about Linda. Still doing my job, killing people for God and Country.
