Saw a movie called Revolt, with an actor named Lee Pace.
Really good, with great acting, good pacing (no pun intended), and a gripping plot.
About an alien invasion carried out by giant robotic drones who kill everyone in sight - except for the people they beam up to their spaceship.

It never did reveal why some humans were disintegrated while others were taken to the spaceship. Maybe food was the idea. The aliens wanted to meat them. 🥩

Big ol' meh.

Never played the games, not sure if that helped improve my rating or stopped it from going higher.

To be fair, most of the film is fine. But the fight scene in the airplane in the beginning was just so physically impossible that it set the tone, and the movie, for me, never really recovered from that.

I saw the movie and played all the games, or maybe most. The audience for movies based on games is a niche group of those who played the games. Most games have a thread thin plot that serves as a way to string a series of challenges together. It reminds me of most theatrical musicals. It's kind of fun to see how closely the movie reflects the game. They usually do to some extent. But when the plot of a game is limited, the movie will be too.

The Last of Us is a bit of an exception, a good plot (for a game) and characters you can identify with that frequently touched my emotions. Netflix made that award winning game into an 8 part series that closely follows the plot. Of course, it's an impossible fantasy, and frankly, the movie doesn't do full justice to the game. IMO

Don't expect to see a movie based on a game to be mentioned at the Academy Awards. I don't think that has happened yet, but I don't watch the Academy Awards ever.

Have I mentioned "Secret Level" on Prime? Eclectic episodes, mostly at least interesting. Helps if you already have a cleric.

From what I've heard, fans of Uncharted thought the movie was meh. The casting choices were kind of weird, even to someone who'd never played them. Also, the games are already basically interactive movies already, so I don't see the point.

I like it. Obviously, variables are astronomical; there are several other things, esp. from my field, we are living through another crisis of historical consciousness, which I keep repeating, but Mcluhan is a great key (he is a fucking genius) for understanding this side of the 'modernism'.

Bliss, starring owen wilson and salma hayek.

I don't think i'll ever want to see this movie again.
It's just not as clever as it wants to be.
It is not horrible, by any means. And salma hayek, whilst playing the "insane" side of her role does ir pretty well. But then other moments her ans owne wilson's performances just kind off fall short, imho.
Owen nailed the last scene, i'll grant him that.

Last night I got to see the 1998 version of Godzilla.
Anything with Jean Reno (the guy who played Leon: The Professional) and Vicki Lewis (from News Radio) is definitely worth watching. Oh, and Matthew Broderick.
It certainly was action-packed from beginning to end!

Yeah, but you can't join in the action unless you're with the Triple Nickle.
