The LGBT PRIDE parade has been going on without any problems for 13 years in Istanbul. The parade was 'booked' and it was totally legal, but then ramadan has been shown as an excuse to stop it.   That's called fear. E: I am adding pics as I find.

Now today:

Oh, and I also made the mistake of reading the comments. Just when I thought I couldn't be more disgusted...

That was where you went wrong. Never read the comments. Nothing good comes from it.
How can you be sure my refusal to agree with your claim a symptom of my ignorance and not yours?

On the other hand, over ten municipalities celebrated the gay pride and the parade by tweets from their formal accounts. Can't find it in English news though. What a surprise.

So Ramadan fucked over gay pride in Istanbul

No fucking surprise, fuck all religions -_-

Just remember, baby steps, as one country passes laws in favor of gays rights, other countries have decades, some even centuries to go before they reach that level.

Lets just celebrate the good changes made.

You know what? I am not really sure it is just that this time. They could have prevented it before today -as they do it to many things- and it would have been better for them for keeping appearances. I'd like to think that US legalising marriage and then big amount of people showing positive reactions from social media definitely had an effect. And I like that.

You guys don't see the influence, but I was very serious when I repeated several times that "It's very important that this should happen in the USA".

Well, look at the bright side; It must be hot there.
Give them plenty of water!
A dark cloud looms over.
Festive cheer does not help much.
What is this, "Justice?"

NSFW... When I heard about this, I thought it was exaggerated.  This is not the protest they need now though.

Well Shoe, a mere 46 years ago the Stonewall riots took place in NY. From the historic perspective that's a blink of the eye. Things are changing dramatically around the world and the "old guard" just can't keep up.
