Before you say anything about American gun laws, this was in France.

QuoteA young woman has died after being shot in the head as celebratory shots were fired at a wedding in northern France, sources close to the investigation say.

According to the mayor of Marly, Fabien Thieme, the young woman was in town on Saturday to attend a wedding when celebratory shots were fired from a procession of cars involved in another wedding.

'This young woman of 19 to 20 years of age took a buckshot bullet to the head,' said Thieme. 'They were driving past but the bullet hit her.'

Emergency services treated the woman at the scene before she was transported to hospital, but she later died.

The suspect, a man in his late twenties, was detained by locals after he got out of the car. He and the 26-year-old driver of the car were arrested shortly after.

The driver, who called himself the 'best friend' of the groom at the wedding he had attended, agreed to drive the suspected shooter, who was not on the guest list, said the prosecutor of Valenciennes, Francois Perain, said.

'The suspect took the hunting rifle to fire in the air to 'add to the atmosphere',' the prosecutor said.

Casings found in the car suggest the suspect shot the gun, a 12-calibre shotgun, several times as they drove by.

I will never understand what goes through people's heads when they procure a gun for any reason other than hunting or self-defense.

I was sure it happened in Turkiye. But then it is really not that surprising that it happened in France.

I don't get why people think just firing into the air is fine.  Like the bullets just disappear or something when they reach a certain distance from the ground.  I mean, do they not teach these people physics?

It was clearly her time to die. God willed it, and it became so.
How can you be sure my refusal to agree with your claim a symptom of my ignorance and not yours?

It's clearly a miracle everyone in France wasn't killed.  Praise Jesus. .

When we live in a world where people hunt animals not for meat or hide to survive, but just for fun, you realize how fucked up a species we can be.

Its the same thing with corrupt cops, but only take up the mantle because the power it gives them to hold or even fire a gun and not be prosecuted for shooting someone.

Doesn't matter, at least there it is a much more rare event.

That sure is a confusing description of the type of gun.

They also don't pay attention to "celebratory" ammunition either - which are, as far as I know, blanks. Nobody in their right mind would shoot live rounds straight into the air. That's practically Russian Roulette for you and everyone around you.
