Bill Levin has used the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in an interesting way to create the First Church of Cannabis, the Marijuana activist in me thinks this is awesome, but the Anti theist in me is very skeptical, what do you all think about this.  (video above gives more information)

Eh, I say why not. I mean weed isn't all that harmful to people (though not my cup of tea), and he has his right to do so under the First Amendment.

The only problem I have is the same as with any other church; The tax exemption.  But I don't think this is about tax exemptions to begin with, so I'll give him a pass.

Good video! I think this is your best so far. This is one of those issues that is a conundrum with no clear answers, and you are exactly right- what is the line between religious rights and legalization? My personal choice is not to use pot, but my wife benefits from it because of her illness. Using it has actually helped in a considerable way, so legalizing it at least medically makes sense.

Various religions over centuries have incorporated drugs in their beliefs, so the precedence is certainly there. And no question, the recognition by the IRS is definitely huge.

Solitary

 That is your best video so far. I think all drugs should be decriminalized, but controlled and regulated. You never know what you are really getting on the street, which is kind of ironic because cigarettes can have anything the purveyors want in them. I think marijuana should be legal and regulated like alcohol for safety reasons. I've gotten illegal pot in the Netherlands that will freak you out it is so strong. What's really funny is the kids there would rather do berries off of bushes to get zonked.  By the way, drugs are not absolutely legal in Holland as many think, especially for foreigners.
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

Personally tax exemption doesn't bother me that much as long as the money is going to charity and not some Creflo Dollar type shit.  In fact if its a US church I'd rather the money go to charity then taxes because alot of our federal taxes just go towards killing brown people.  And as a brown person I feel some type of way about that.

You know mage, I'd like to see your opinion of Chris Kyle and what you thought about the guy and the hype around him.

I recently saw the American Sniper movie but I don't know too much about what he actually did IRL.  Of course I don't support the wars in the middle east, but at the same time I understand that alot of those soldiers are not fighting for their countries, but fighting for their own lives as well as their fellow soldiers lives, and when it comes to kill or be killed I'd much rather be the one doing the killing.
