US 'to expand' 2015 Afghanistan combat role

QuoteUS troops in Afghanistan will be allowed to target Taliban fighters in Afghanistan from 2015, US officials say, expanding their role after the end of major combat operations.
New rules. Soldiers will be ALLOWED to shoot back.

Does it say "shoot back" in the link? Sounds to me like they can shoot first.

Like Han Solo.
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

My son was there some years ago. They were not allowed to shoot unless directly fired upon or with orders from a Colonel or higher. Ridiculous. He was in East Afghanistan on the Pakistan border, and at night they could see Taliban fighters coming over the border with infrared lenses and could do nothing, even knowing they were armed. Half the people in a given village were probably Taliban fighters, they could even identify them, and could do nothing.

Nuke the whole fucking middle east and be done with it.

Solitary

That's called Military Intelligence.  :wall:
There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.
