 I just got a call from my neurologist and I'm a bit worried that she might have found something in my head this time. I think my body has been trying to tell me something because I have gotten so nostalgic lately and depressed. I'll be back with an update when I get enough intestinal fortitude to find out. It also bothers me that I had a terrific dream last night that doesn't happen often.  :shifty:  I'm not really scared, but am definitely concerned. Oh well, I've had a better life than most people do, and the direction the world is going is troubling to say the least.  And please no celebrations before I find out! Let's all pray!  :fU:

Thanks for the support guys! I found out I have MTH, which I have no idea what that stands for. I have to go back in 4 years instead of my normal 5 years to have another MRI. From my experience from working in a hospital with surgery I would say it is too much fluid on my brain which would be hydrocephaly (water on the brain) since removing a pituitary adenoma effects the balance of fluid in the brain. Right now I'm having very slight symptoms, that could be cause by the original tumor, my ischemic attack, or even prescription drugs I'm taking. I thought for sure I had Joanie Jettitous, or Jay Jay on my brain. Here are the results that came back:

Sorry guys, I'm having an old age crises.

Well, here's my recommendation:

1. Define the scope of the crisis
â—¾Local, regional or national
â—¾Organizational areas involved
â—¾What have others done in similar situations

2. Establish unified response
â—¾Designate one person authorized to clear statements to the media and the public; responsible for getting clearances from lawyers, public safety officials, etc; make arrangements in advance
â—¾Develop and maintain a unified position and supporting messages
â—¾Keep messages simple, clear and consistent
â—¾Tailor messages to audiences
â—¾Designate one authorized spokesperson and one alternate; tell staff and members who they are, where they are and how they can be reached day or night

3. Create a central information service
â—¾Set up an adequately staffed and equipped media headquarters away from the crisis site; know how to arrange for additional phone lines
â—¾Staff and volunteers should refer all crisis questions to the central source:
â—¾Request stakeholder cooperation
â—¾Arrange for the receptionist and voice mail to refer calls to the crisis center
â—¾Have emergency numbers (police, fire, public safety, medical) available
â—¾To avoid inconsistencies in media responses, have all requests funneled through information central

4. Act promptly
â—¾Gather facts calmly
â—¾Notify media and cooperate with reporters
â—¾Target communications to those affected by the crisis and who can effect action
â—¾Staff, leaders, stakeholders, government officials, media
â—¾Different crises have different focuses
â—¾Disasters/industrial accidents/environmental problems affect local communities first
â—¾Takeovers, mergers, acquisitions affect financial markets and media
â—¾Product recalls/consumer boycotts affect customers, stakeholder sales forces, suppliers distributors
â—¾Immediately make a simple statement indicating awareness of the situation, action being taken and willingness to inform media and public of details when they are known
â—¾Openly and honestly provide as much detail as possible
â—¾Extent of problem, damages, injuries
â—¾Actions being taken by organization, stakeholders
â—¾Arrange for a news conference for the designated spokesperson as soon as facts are known
â—¾Make spokesperson available for interviews
â—¾Console the stricken, reassure the affected, offer help
â—¾Use facts to squelch rumors
â—¾Work with hospitals/public safety organizations to designate spokespersons
â—¾Keep stakeholders informed of developments (staff, leaders, association members, government officials

5. Establish media response policy
â—¾Schedule regular briefings to relay data, correct misconceptions and maintain positive media relations
â—¾If appropriate and acceptable to public safety officials, arrange for access to disaster area
â—¾Provide no information about victims until families have been notified
â—¾Keep media away from families until approved by appropriate person
â—¾Do not stonewall or deny that there is a crisis
â—¾Treat all media equally; no exclusives
â—¾Stick to the facts
â—¾Limit statements to the immediate problem
â—¾Keep records of all replies (media, reporter name, date, time, respondent, summary of response, follow up requests)
â—¾Have media monitoring plan
â—¾Arrange for photographer/videographer to document important developments for media, lawyers, insurance companies, organizational records

6. Document everything

â—¾Keep thorough and accurate records of everything - planning sessions, crisis management team meetings, reports and all public conferences; tape thoughts and reasons for making decisions because these will give a solid basis for quotes; document decision making and protect from blame fixing

7. Conduct a post-crisis review
â—¾Appoint a crisis evaluation team to assess handling of the crisis and recommend changes in crisis procedures
â—¾Evaluation team members should be different from crisis management team members

â—¾Questions to ask - Did the crisis plan work?  Where did it break down?  What should be added?  What was unnecessary and obsolete?  Who should be on the next crisis management team?
