Have I heard about Jesus? Why no.. Is that a new snack food or the latest car?  Oh wait...don't tell me.. It's a new cell phone.. Oh please DO tell me of this new product, jesus... How much does it cost?

When I hear someone say, "Have you heard about Jesus?" I think what they really mean is, "Of course, I know you've heard about Jesus, because you haven't been living under a rock, but I want to tell you my special bullshit about Jesus, which ordinary Christians have never tod you.  He loves you and he has a SPECIAL PLAN bla bla bla...."

I actually talk to the JWs when they come to my door, they infest our neighborhood on a regular basis.  As they try to tell me the good news of Jehovah I try to tell them the good news of Odin.  He dismissed it all with "that sounds like man's word, not god's word."

One time I was doing political pamphleting, and handed a pamphlet to someone who stopped to talk to me about Jesus, and while we were talking she threw my pamphlet in the trash.  Right in front of me.  I told her "if you want me to respect your message, perhaps you should respect mine" but she went on about how her message was important and mine wasn't.

In both cases they are only interested in what they have to say and don't have any respect for other views.  If you want me to respect your view, pretend to show some respect for my views as well.  If you want me to take you seriously, take me seriously as well.

That applies to many of the things about Christians talking to other people.

My friend was telling me that a JW came to his door once and he let them in, let them talk, and then afterwards... after letting them waste all their time on him, asked them "how many people are allowed in to heaven?" (this friend is also an atheist and did his research on this) After they told him the number, (I forget the number, but it's lower than the amount of JW members right now) he asked the JWs "what is your point of being here" They didn't see the connection.

Tell them about the tooth fairy with all the fake sincerity you can muster and how you actually received cold hard cash for teeth as a kid and they leave you alone real goddamn quick..

I guess you have to have a cut off point somewhere.  After all, you couldn't just forgive everyone and let everyone in.  Who has that kind of space?

I used to figure I'd use the same tactic if I were ever confronted by JW's. If only 144,000 of you are getting into heaven why are you out recruiting? Aren't you worried that you'll recruit yourself out of a ticket to gods kingdom?

But then I did a little reading on it. Near as I can tell, the JW's believe that 144,000 will be granted passage into heaven to work beside the lord. IOW, 144,000 will go in as officers, have keys to executive bathroom right off the bat, get assigned parking spots in the good lot near the tennis courts, sit at the big table with the boss during ceremonies, you know, the whole bit. The rest will go in as mere enlisted folk get a cabin in steerage and bow down whenever big guy sneezes just like everyone else. So of course they didn't know what he was talking about. In their minds everyone still gets in, its just some of them will be on the gold ticket plan and everyone else will get the bronze ticket plan.

I didn't like in the video where the guy noted we're different from animals. No. We are not.
