I still remember... shortly before East Germany fell, the Party was facing a crisis as people started to disobey the Party en mas, and the Party was divided into two main factions that BOTH tried to save the Party. The main difference between the two factions was that one wanted to save the Party by suppressing and killing even more of their citizens while the other factions thought the solution would be to stop killing and suppressing people. In the end BOTH factions FAILED. The only difference was that the faction that became peaceful realized that it is impossible for a Socialist/Communist Party to NOT suppress and persecute it's people because that is just how their system works, so that faction eventually separated from the Party and distanced themselves from Communism. Whereas the other faction went down with the Party. But neither faction was able to achieve their initial goal of saving the Party - at best they where able to save themselves, and that's it. So what I am trying to tell you is that you really shouldn't put your hope in EITHER faction - because after all there is also still a third faction. Namely the ones who try to save the Party by only PRETENDING to change, and as soon as the people fall for it and follow them again, they revert to their old schemes of suppression and persecution. So don't put any hope in the Party. They have been repeating their same old schemes for over 150 years now - enough is enough.
