The microwaved egg exploding one happened to me.  Turns out you're supposed to poke holes in them first for exactly that reason.

When I had step-kids the older boy microwaved an egg, it exploded and I told him to clean it up. He just walked away. I took the microwave and threw it in the dumpster. Luckily for me I know how to actually cook. Him, not so much.

It boggles my mind that this little improv theatre stuff actually convinced our forefathers.  These people looked at shadows in wells and fairly accurately estimated the shape and size of the planet, somewhat accurately guessed the existence of atoms based on basically nothing, deduced evolution based on varieties of similar species, selective breeding, island gigantism, and the fact of extinction - and thought that crops wilted because someone cast a spell on it.  SMH.
