They're really, really fun games.  All you need is a bunch of friends who like the same sorts of things who can all meet up at the same time for 3-4 hours.  And if you don't have that many friends who all have the same time off, just start a family or do what I did, take hostages.

I used to play some board games with a buddy of mine. We played (besides chess) such games as Risk, Feudal, Twixt, Reversi (also called Othello), and Shoge (Japanese chess). There were quite a few other games, but I don't recall the names of them.

We had lots of fun, but he passed away, and since then I've had no one with which to play such games (other than chess).

I can get you in contact with my group of friends, if you want. They sometimes play games online. I'm usually too busy for that. Don't know if you've got access to a computer, or Steam, though. Among other things, there's a game with a virtual play table, where you can play pretty much any board game online.

I don't have access to a computer right now, but I also don't have access to enough time to play board games anymore.
I spend way too much time watching YouTube. I can't even drag myself away long enough to read any of the plethora of books I have awaiting my eyeballs.

I buddy of mine, years ago, had a dog that would always growl at me. So one day, as we were sitting around getting stoned, the dog was doing her usual growling act, so I put my head down right next to hers, and growled with her for several minutes. After that we were best friends! 🤣
