My Antisemetic neighbor

I used to post here frequently years back, but my password spontaneously stopped working so I created a new account. Anyways..

I live in a pretty upscale middle class neighborhood where almost everyone is very politically correct, so it surprised me that our new neighbor is an outspoken antisemitic. He  believes in a global Jewish conspiracy in which the "Zionist Jews" control all aspects of society from government (US congress and the EU) to financial institution (Federal reserve) to the media. I'm not very read up on this specific topic, but from my years as an atheist I've learned to question all extraordinary claims. I've heard these types of claims in passing, but always scoffed it off as another unsubstantiated conspiracy theory. I've asked him for evidence to support his claims, here are some examples of what he's written me:

"It is by no coincidence whatsoever that they've been expelled from over 109 nations/countries since 520A.D... All for the same reasons; USURY, RIGGING BIDS, BEING DISHONEST CONSISTENTLY, HAVING THEIR HANDS ALL OVER EDUCATION AND THE PROPAGANDA, INFILTRATING FINANCIAL MARKETS, CONTROLLING VIRTUALLY ALL BANKS AND UNIONS, they manipulate our stock markets to THEIR advantage and have frequent bankruptcies, start WARS and then fund/finance BOTH SIDES of whichever war... These Zionist are sick people It wasn't just Germany and Italy!.... The whole of Europe was biting' their tongues! Poland, the Balkans, the Baltics, the English, this bash, the French, and the Russians especially! Everybody wanted them gone! Germany and Italy just made it happen, they were the only ones that actually walked the walk, they were done talking the talk. They made it happen! They annihilated them. Think of what Europe would look like today if there wasn't a genocide? If the Germans didn't make the Final Solution of Jewish Question happen we probably would still be under a socialist/communist based state; we would probably have Jewish/ Middle Eastern blood in our families/ people would be genetically mixed just like the majority of the new generation here in the USA, and Europe would be dominated under a one single unified homogenous state. There would be one large central bank just like our Federal Reserve here in the USA that oversaw all the other financial institutions and there would more than like be poverty, homeless and unemployment swarming everywhere and there would be a small group running and controlling everything holding all the wealth imaginable!"

My neighbor is VERY enthusiastic about his fight against "the Jews" and is always trying to recruit me. It would help if anyone could give advice on how to evaluate his claims and offer some responses. I'm kind of at a loss. Thanks.

let's be clear here: your "new neighbor" is lauding genocide because without it brown people would have had sex with whites.

I notice two glaring omissions from his list of crimes committed by the Jews: deicide and blood libel. Isn't it odd that Jewish control of education, propaganda, banks, unions and governments was insufficient to prevent their expulsion and murder? Essentially, that part of his argument boils down to "antisemitic people kicked Jews out of a lot of places. This proves Jews are bad and deserve to be kicked out of lots of (more) places".
I thought Europe was one big socialist state; that's what conservative talking heads keep saying, though they can never make up their mind if it is the Jews ruining running everything or if it is the Muslims; but they are sure it must be some kind of brown people. Maybe Mexicans.

The reason people hate the Jews is for the same reason people hated blacks in the past---they segregate themselves and become scapegoats for peoples' bigotry and prejudice for peoples' own failings. This is why I don't understand the browns wanting to say they are brown and not Caucasian which they used to be. When one person is insane it is rare, but when there is a group it is the norm, and anyone that is not part of the group is suspect, feared, and hated. It's a two edged sword. Solitary

Well, if he seems to be bothering you so much that you whine and complain about it, he must be getting to you quite badly. You can choose to ignore him, or look into his claims; it's your choice. I've had neighbours like what you are talking about, and I made friends/acquaintances with them. It's easy. It seems like you are getting easily offended at such a daily, widespread occurrence. Ignore him, look into his claims, or develop the gumption to tell him off. Your call.

Outspoken anti-Semites do exist, but I don't encounter them often.  I made friends with this guy once, and we were having a beer at a bar when he suddenly opened up about the Jews.  I was taken aback, and embarrassed because he was talking really loud and other people could hear, and there I was, an obvious friend of this raving anti-Semite.

A guy ah know who lives up the street from me told me a couple of weeks ago that he wasnt going to use the local private hire taxi's any more because in his words they were.  ''Employing too many ay they fuckin immigrants''.not the 1st time he's come out wi somethin like this an he's not the only one around this area, but thankfully it seems that they are in the minority.

I guess what i was hoping for was some ideas for ways i can reply. I tried to approach his claims like i do with religious claims- allow him to make his claims, present his evidence and then research it independently. The only problem is that unlike creationist claims about flood geology, i cant find any peer reviewed scientific research renouncing a Zionist conspiracy (I guess if there was a Zionist conspiracy you wouldn't lol). In fact most of the material i found online supported the idea. My conspiracy theory bullshit detector is through the roof, but i cant find any good referance material to argue from.

I know the evidence for sociological issues is a lot harder to evaluate than scientific ones. Maybe there are pockets of Zionist Jews acting to benefit their own people at the expense of everyone else, but same goes with a myriad of other special interest groups and ethnicities championing their own cause and people.

Given 21 mllion as the highest possible number of Jews- as opposed to core numbers of 13 or 18 million- puts Jewish population at something like 3.5% of world population. So, assuming that only a typical 2-5% of that population is wealthy, which is actually generous, you are talking about less than 500,000 people total that would make up a Jewish Conspiracy. Consider that we have exactly 34 Jewish people in congress, about 7% of the total. The Supreme court has exactly 1 Jew, Elena Kagan.

Even if there is a higher percentage of Wealthy Jews, the numbers don't add up to much clout politically or demographically. There are 1.6 billion Muslims, 23% of world population. That is a more worrying number, imo.
