The theist often asks: "why do scientists rule out  the supernatural in trying to explain what we see as the real world?" It's a legitimate question. It's as if the theist is saying: "it seemed inconsistent to me to NEVER expect a scientist to insert, "and a miracle happens here," if the scientist is keeping an "open mind" and/or fully expects a supernatural cause to happen even during an experiment." Do you expect a scientist to say: "well, we can't explain why this star is rotating extremely fast around what seems like empty space, therefore there was be something supernatural." Or observing a deer suddenly running scared, "Oh there must be a supernatural force that scared it... hmm, maybe some deer-devil or what?!" Where would science have gone had our scientists behave that way? Well, forget about MRI's, or vaccines against polio, or satellite communication and the Internet, to name a few. We are where we are today because scientists refused to go the way of the "supernatural" solution. Now in that video, the questions that were asked might not have an immediate answer, and no one in science is deluded that we have all the answers, but the copout answer is that there is a God to those questions we hardly understand, including whether or not these questions are the right questions to ask.

you do understand that you are engaging in MENTAL MASTURBATION, right?

josephpalazzo

Hmm... that's what a troll would say. Note: we do ban trolls.

theoldesthegelians

So you believe you can think but your only answer to a post that adresses your OP squarely is: MENTAL MASTURBATION. Wow, you surely know how to fool yourself.

PickelledEggs

That sign language thing is pretty funny.

As for the link you shared...

The thing about people that believe in the paranormal is they jump to conclusions and over complicate things.

Most of us atheists believe in the big bang theory because that is the most viable explanation so far. Of course we don't know what caused the big bang theory, but jumping to the conclusion "god did it" still leaves the question "who or what made god?"

Sometimes it's best to suck it up and realize the only answer to a question like that is, "I don't know. Let's find out"

And we may NEVER find out. Life on this planet may cease to exist before we get the chance. There is only so much we will be able to know because our universe is so huge and it's expanding at an exponentially fast rate. Realizing that most of the answers to questions like that is "I don't know" opens the possibilities for more answers and more questions.

oh we are pretty sure who is spanking their chicken

So Dennis, still spamming atheist forums? A few days ago I banned your silly ass straight away, now I will let the other members have a bit of fun before sending your stupid self so far out there that you'll have satellites orbiting your thick skull.

Excellent! Anything to do with sex has my attention!
Because sex IS real AND heaps of fun and excitement.
Unlike some concepts bandied about here, and on religious sites.

At least with mental masturbation, he is actually USING his brain.
Heaven is no more than a carrot on a string at the end of a tunnel; Hell is no more than a gunbarrel at the back of your head.  When we are good people for the sake of being good people, we\'ll have no further use for religion.

I'm mentally masturbating right now...
