If you mean the dead end of a species because it has reached a bottleneck, nobody. the problem is how you define unavoidable. If you build homes you cut down trees for lumber, which is unavoidable. But every tree is a part of the ecosystem. Remove enough of them you cause loss of habitat and reduction in numbers of various animals and other plants that depend on tress for either food, shade or habitat. You can categorically declare that as unavoidable, but the demise is still caused by humans.
