The children find it nice to be with their great-grandmother part of the time (at other times it is the turn of my brother's grandchildren). Satisfaction that what they planted is prospering. What is life otherwise?
"Brahma Satyam Jagan-mithya" (Brahman is the truth, the observed is an illusion)
"Sarve Khalu Idam Brahma" (All this here is Brahman)

1) Nope
2) Yes, they pay me for existing
3) 22
4) Culture thingy. If everything goes normally, I will stay with them till the end.
There is also no support for old people in my country.

I did read through the entire thread but i might have missed what mykcob4 really wanted to discuss.

I always win.
The others just don't always realise it.

I only know one of one of those users you are talking about, but I bet that both of them to this day still think they won the argument and that the other user is an asshole

I know of many people who live with parents. Quite often,  such is the case of my good friend Whitt, he's always lived with his mother and would rip your head right off your neck for so much as thinking of causing grief to her. He supports her, tends to her needs and even though he's about 6' 6" his 5' mom rules his life and he's perfectly fine with it.

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

My mommy and daddy are dead. So if I lived with them, it would be kind of icky.

But Strom, if you did that we could call you Norman.

True. Bates Motel. The idea of Vera Farmiga as mommy dearest does have a certain appeal...... :-k

I had to live with my parents for a short time (2 weeks or so) after my marriage went to hell........FUCK that.

I'm staying with my dad this week,  but it's only a visit since it's been awhile since we last saw each other. Their preoccupation with the Hallmark channel is a bit disconcerting,  but they're old folks stuck on 70s goody two shoes TV.
I might go nuts if I had to stay here much longer though.

I live alone. My kiddos are all grown up, or close to it.

I pay rent to my landlord.

My parent doesn't subsidize anything.

I'm 45.

Actually, due to lack of money (much of it being used to support my kids at the time), I was sharing apartments / living with friends for the last few years. I'm glad that's over, I'm happy to just have my own place even if I pay a rent higher than a mortage back in the city where I used to live.

... Which means I guess I can tell anyone "how it is" with impugnity? :D
