Don't watch if you are squeamish about getting grossed out. Seriously, don't watch!

I wonder why other countries are afraid and hate us and think we are stupid jerks worse than Saddam?

Your question needs to be examined before it can be answered.

There are those who believe in natural rights, and you generally disagree with them. According to people who believe in natural rights, Bush and his cronies ARE war criminals.

But without an external measure of that nature, then you are left with the government as the only measure of when someone is a criminal. Since Obama declined to investigate and declined to prosecute therefore Bush and cronies aren't criminals.
White privilege is being a lifelong racist, then being sent to the White House twice because your running mate is a minority.

No Biden, no KKK, no Fascist USA!

The Skeletal Atheist

Because that would be us, as a nation, admitting we fucked up. We kind of admitted we fucked up, but that was more of a "sorry for killing people, we'll be leaving now" sort of thing. If Bush and his warmongers got convicted on war crime charges, we'd have to start paying reparations and such. We'd basically admit that we really, really fucked up. So yeah, Bush will never see the inside of a prison or the end of a rope. He'll just live the rest of his life happy and comfortable.

Joke answer: you can't convict retards.
Some people need to be beaten with a smart stick.

The other countries can't do anything as the US is the only superpower. As for Americans, they keep re-electing Republicans. Need to say no more.

AllPurposeAtheist

Leaders for right or wrong are generally only charged as war criminals when they lose and their regimes overturned. Elections usually don't count.
That's not to say we won anything at all, but other than prestige and national treasure and human beings we lost nothing.
It's a fucked up way of looking at it, but it's how it works.
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

Valigarmander

Name one president since Nuremberg that wouldn't qualify as a war criminal.

Because
1. the biggest religion is Christianity and they are Christians
2. The U.S. has 6 times the armed might of any other nation
3. We would have to admit that we are the bad guys. Evil? Us?

Oh, and btw, this thread and that link are being tracked by the enn ess ayy....... :(

What? Look how nice Truman was, he only vaporized civilians after the Japanese army was defeated for all practical purposes.  Solitary

George Bush was a good Christian. He was following the bible example of invading and killing other countries.

Thinking of Pelosi and Obama as Republicans is interesting then.

Whatever. If Obama was to insinuate that Bush was a war criminal, the firestorm that followed would ruin him. He himself could be cited for criminal conduct for the ongoing BS at Guantanamo and the drone slaughter of a few hundred "collateral damage" civilians in Pakistan.
The Iraq war is one of the stupidest political decisions ever made, but I guarantee if you poll the American people, the majority of them would say it was the right decision.
U.S. society and government have been pretty much doing what they want for a couple of centuries, from "manifest destiny" on down.

How do you define war crime in the first place?
To me starting the war which is not needed is a crime in itself.

That is indeed a war crime -- initiating aggressive war is banned, along with many other activities, usually observed more in the breach.

There are many other laws regarding warfare, embodied in the Laws and Customs of Warfare, and also the UN Charter. For some reason the UN website is inaccessible to me.

Minimalist

War crimes only apply to the losers.

Had Hitler won WWII there would be statues of him all over Europe and the fucking church would have made him a saint.

Churchill would have been hung.
The Christian church, in its attitude toward science, shows the mind of a more or less enlightened man of the Thirteenth Century. It no longer believes that the earth is flat, but it is still convinced that prayer can cure after medicine fails.

If he hadn't continued Bush's crimes, he wouldn't be vulnerable to the same accusations. Food for thought.
