So has anyone had the experience of explaining to girls who just learned that you're gay that you're not "TV gay" and have no desire to go shopping, help them with fashion sense, or talk about drama with them? Also had to explain to straight guys that I don't instantly want every man's cock and yes, I have standards unless I'm horribly drunk.

Yeah, there are. Sometimes I find the well-meaning girls who think that all gay guys are "TV gay" more infuriating than the actual bigots. In the US television loves to play upon the stereotype that gay guys are catty, feminine drama queens who love to go shopping or whatever else their girl-friends want to do. I'm pretty much the exact opposite of that. Most of my friends are straight males and we either fix cars, shoot guns ('Murrica), or get drunk on beer/whiskey. My boyfriend is a bit feminine, which provides a nice contrast to myself, but even then when we go out to shop we go out to shop for ourselves. I couldn't care less about what dress would look nice on who, even if I have a nice fashion sense - I just wanna get my shit and get out.

Are there people like that or you're fishing? I only had one gay friend who was into fashion and he also has become a successful make up artist. Other than rest are musicians, academics. They are not found of shopping at all or dramas...But they are all very talkative.

Not fishing. One of the first things I had to do after I came out was tell my neighbor's girlfriend that I had absolutely no interest in shopping with her or talking about drama. I wanted to bash my head against a wall.

Personally I think we should have the appearance of the forum decided by the gay members. Any level of good taste can't be a bad thing. My one gay neighbor has politely informed me I have no taste whatsoever, so I'll stay out of the discussion. I believe him, because he has the most tasteful mobile home I have ever seen. Don't worry, we're going with hardwood floors anyways. Blood dries into sort of a nice reddish-brown color when splattered on white walls, so that should go really nicely with the redwood flooring.
