So, I just watched this and it's equal parts heartbreaking and infuriating.

One of the biggest reasons I never joined the military despite the promises to pay for college and all of that was because I just didn't want to sign my life away and put it in the hands of the government. Some people do just fine in the military, but the horror stories....my gawd.  :(

Sorry, my phone's crap..won't load, but I very seldom tell women to join the military. A lot is made of equal rights and all, but the military in general is still a mans world where women are all to often treated really bad.
My sister was in the army in the 70's and was raped and beaten, something she kept hidden for 40 years from family, especially her daughter, now in her 40's. My niece has a tough time with it and my sister lived a long, agonizing lie about it..

Well, since you can't access the story I can give a short summary (although that doesn't do her story justice). Back in the 80's, maybe early 90's, she was raped by her boss (in the Air Force) and when she went to get a rape kit or whatever, she was taken and locked away in a psych ward for over a 100 days and was doped everyday. The only way she got out was because her mother called some Senators/congresspeople. She never got justice for her rape. Then, she when in for a "routine" ovectomy (spelling?) to you know, just have her ovaries removed because of tumors, but they fucked her up so bad that she ended up having over a dozen surgeries over the years for what they did to her. She's a mess, lost everything, the VA/Military refuses to take any responsibility or even acknowledge any wrongdoing, and now she lives in a little camper with her twisted body.

Hooray for our veterans. It just makes me sick.
