Solitary

There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.

My first thought after watching the video:

Her creationism status has long been up in the air and the video isn't much help because it's an old clip from back in her Veep-and-Weep days, and obviously, whatever she (I'm looking for a word that is similar to "thinks" but doesn't involve actual thought) is no longer of any relevance.  So, meh.  *shrugs*

Holy mother fucking dick tits ass cunts. That's like hearing Bill Maher say Republicans and smart in a positive way in the same sentence 0.o

I've long held the belief that her perceived stupidity is just a facade; if you're too brainy, the Republicans will run from you.

I think she is an idiot, but I don't think she is as big of one as she puts on, yah. And her stupidity I think is more one of culture than just being straight-up slow.

SGOS

Has she ever spoken in support of creationism in schools before?  I can't remember her saying much on this topic at all.  I also wonder why she was never called out on the carpet by her fundamentalist political supporters for making such a comment.  Maybe she was, but if so, I missed it.

Yes.  I linked it.

Quote from: "the article"During a televised debate for the 2006 Alaska gubernatorial race, she was asked whether creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms. Here's her response, according to the Anchorage Daily News:

"Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as the daughter of a science teacher. Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject – creationism and evolution. It's been a healthy foundation for me. But don't be afraid of information and let kids debate both sides."

Hmmm.  A politician saying opposite things for two different audiences.  Who would have thought such a thing could happen?

Plu

I love how she uses "as the daughter of a science teacher" in both ways. She's just literally saying the opposite of her previous answer, using the exact same structure and delivery, without even blinking about the hypocrisy.

AllPurposeAtheist

She's smart enough to know creationism has no real credibility, but plays to that audience for votes and/or money..
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

You have just defined "politician." Which means-gasp! she is one!

Funny how she doesn't practice what she preaches. She came to Texas and joined Gov. Perry promoting that evolution be taught as a theory that had no proof of being real, and that Creation was the true science that should be taught as Intelligent Design.
