Actually most of them didn't come about until Imperial Rome, and were greatly influenced by Christianity.

Except for all those Dark Ages and Renaissance Christians.  Say, from 325 CE (before that, "Christian" meant "Jew" - let's not forget that) to about ... well, now.

In fact, aren't 90% of the people he's talking about (in the US, at least) - aborters, cheaters, fornicators, etc. - Christians?  This is the guy who said

So he's against abortion, he's against the best means of preventing the need for abortion - and he's probably in favor of "abstinence only", a method known chiefly for its high failure rate.  Not exactly the sharpest spoon in the drawer.  (I won't insult knives by mentioning them in the same sentence I mention him.)

Good analysis there, Colanth. human sexuality doesn't change over centuries and the only thing xtianity ever did with sexuality is to try to cover up what the leaders were doing in private.

Romans enjoyed pagan sexuality when Rome was at the peak of its power.  The last major cultural change before the fall of Rome was the adoption of Christianity as the state religion.

I'm not saying there's a cause and effect relationship there, but just in case...

And not only that, but encourage really harmful gameplans for sex ("natural" family planning, also known as the Oopsie Daisy I'm Preggers Again plan, celibacy until marriage lest the poor woman provoke an honor killing, and the ever-popular No Abortions Unless It Kills You And Not Even Then plan) and oppose safe sex (condoms, masturbation, even sexual fantasies).  It's like they use their authority to purposefully hurt their followers.  I mean God's followers.  Whoops.

Actually, infanticide was common all throughout the world until the late Victorian era, and in the ancient world, it was only ever taboo amongst the Jews and the Egyptians. Spartans killed weak babies by bathing them in cold water, and Roman fathers could legally dispose of any children that they didn't believe were theirs. Infanticide still goes on in many parts of the world. In China and India, girl babies are regularly aborted, killed after birth, or abandoned because the parents think boys are better. In some African cultures, a girl baby might be taken from the mother and killed. Millions of children, even in developed countries, are abandoned to the streets, neglected, abused, and forgotten--which, to me, is no better than simply killing them at birth. It has the same effect of getting them out of the way of adults who don't want them. Children have been treated like shit for centuries.
